What should a player do if they are told they are bad in mythics even though they are trying their hardest and putting forth their best effort? Is that a sign the player should quit the game?
I have found myself in this situation and unfortunately I can’t find anything else fun to do in the game except mythics. Everything centers around mythics. If you can’t do mythics, you may as well quit wow it seems. I can’t do mythics, I struggle to get into raids.
There is nothing fun in this game anymore because you have to be the best of the best to play it.
Is your DPS low? Are you missing interrupts, are you taking avoidable damage? Are you not healing through burst damage phases? Are they morons and blaming you for their own failures? Is your mog ugly?
no, it’s a sign that the player should hit icy veins and wowhead for a quick brush-up on latest things smarter players came up with, and maybe see how they compare with other palyers of their class in similar conditions.
did the other guy cast fireball 25% more than you? did he use that one ability 33 times and you don’t even have it talented?
I’d be more than happy to give advice, but its tough to without knowing exactly what was going on.
I dont feel its a sign you should quit. But there are plenty of people here (and in game I am sure) that would be more than willing to give pointers to.
Generally speaking, there are two things people will initially look at to judge a person “bad”. Assuming you are dps, its damage done and not getting hit by avoidable damage.
Things like interrupts, utility, are also important. But the first two are more statistically likely to cause someone to say something.
Assuming its one of those, I would suggest looking into rotational guides. You could get something like hekili (an add on) to learn your rotation. Its not optimal in AE situations because of how fluid those can be. But if you are lagging behind considerably in damage done, it may be an initial boost. Once you get the feeling down for things, I would suggest eventually breaking away.
As far as avoiding damage, that one can be a bit tough too, depending on dungeon and affix and your role. Sometimes spell effects on the ground are a bit harder to see depending on graphical settings. But you can tinker with those.
You can also look into DragonFlight M+ Dungeon Weak Aura packages (Weak Aura is an add on). These can be found on wago.io . There are ones that make it a bit more obvious when some certain “avoid this or you get hurt” mechanic is happening.
I would also look into a guild. Guilds can be more receptive to a person learning and growing in M+.
20% of the time, it means someone is looking for a scapegoat for their own failures.
But… when you are hearing the same assessment consistently, it probably means you currently are bad at that mythic plus dungeon. The good news is that there’s probably nothing stopping you from doing better.
Trying really hard on your own without consulting resources very likely is NOT enough.
There are 3 area that could be lacking:
Detailed knowledge of your class and the techniques your class uses in M+, and
Knowledge of the dungeon and its trash mobs and bosses, and
Ability to remember and execute the above knowledge
1 and 2 are easily fixable, and is likely the issue for probably over 90% of players.
If it really is #3, only then are you possibly hard stuck.
Otherwise, just watch some youtube videos of dungeon guides, and videos of people showing how to use your class in M+ … if you are unwilling to put in this sort of research, then you’ll be close to hard stuck, with the only hope being the occasional nice player giving you critical tips when you’ve made mistakes – trying to go the route of waiting for tips is extremely slow.
If someone tells me I’m bad in mythics, I disregard them or cuss them out. First of all I am doing fine. Second of all, I’m probably logging the run so if they give me 2 minutes I can come up with a list of things they did wrong too.
To be fair nobody has told me that in two years. But if they did, I would be prepared.
First thing I do. Cry. That goes without saying.
Then I open a ticket, A plane ticket. Fly to aruba for the weekend because I need a spa day!
And then when I get home I contact my local senator, Usually by telegraph. And then I explain the situation.
If all else fails, I get on social media and I blame everyone else.
The real answer is you put your adult pants on. Ignore the person. Report them if necessary. Reflect on your performance and try to do better or move on.
Valid feedback is useful, even if it is insulting and not particularly constructive.
THIS VERY THREAD IS PROOF, that the feedback motivated the player to seek out assistance — he started in the forums, hopefully it’ll continue with class guides and dungeon guides
It’s useless. If you want someone to get better, give them targeted specific feedback. There’s no reason the OP couldn’t seek out help with M+ without being told they’re bad.
I always wonder with the English language what is consider bad? When I hear"you bad" do they mean I’m bad for doing something wrongly or prowling my ego?
