So our guild is working out the details to see who will be the one to finish the quest chain, as we are one of the leading guilds on our server.
One of our biggest questions is when will the chain be available to start? I know the quest begins with the quest item picked up off of Broodlord Lashlayer, but when can we start farming Scarab Shells. Phase 3, or Phase 4?
Sorry if this has been posted somewhere or answered already, I looked to no avail so I figured I’d ask myself.

You mean the title? The title was released in the tbc pre-patch. The actual quest chain to open the gates? Phase 5 iirc

Shouldn’t you be able to work on the quest chain before phase 5 even releases?
Don’t worry your guild probably won’t be the one to complete it.

Honest answer, i dont think any of us knows the individual quest breakdown as far as the phases go.
They might hold the chains till last, simply to start everyone off even i guess, but i do not really know at all.
No matter what, I hope they completely change what materials are needed so that people can’t stockpile them up and finish it overnight.

Sure, artificially limit how much can be turned in a day.
I’d rather have the discovery of what materials are needed and the production of those materials, the same that happened in the original gate opening event. Knowing this ahead of time takes out a lot of the mystery and discovery.

you simply dupe the objects in the DB
makes the dupes ver 1.1 (paraphrasing)
switch all drops to 1.1 going forward
quest only accepts object ver 1.1
the rest of the game does not care

I dont know that they would do it, i dont personally know a lot of people that are stockpiling yet, it’s the stuff towards the end in the elite quest chains that is hard, all the rest is mundane, you just need tons.

I’m like 90% sure they came out and said they would not be doing this and that the items and amounts would remain the same as they were.
I could be wrong though but I’m pretty sure it’ll be the same.
Hmm yeah, they can do that too but it risks breaking a lot of things that interact with each other.

You assume there is a version flag at all. There might not be and adding it to the database could be quite a chore.
I don’t really get why someone would want this. Mystery in a 15 year old game sounds like an oxymoron honestly. Why would you play an old game to be surprised?

The questline won’t be in the game till P5 and starts in silithus.

it starts with “What Tomorrow Brings” from Baristolth, and Night Elf in Cenarion Hold in Silithus.
You Talk to anachronos I do believe, then you kill the Broodlord in BWL. Then its a rep grind and a bunch of crap after that.
Available in P5, like stated before.
Just reverse the alliance/horde turn ins. That will be enough to throw a wrench in it for a few days.
