Second worst mobility in the game, zero cleave, terrible aoe, unique azerite traits do nothing more than the generic ones you can literally pick any trait and perform within a few percentage of the highest traits outside of raid traits.
But oh wait I forgot that 1% mana buff, never mind ret is fine l2p.

Honestly probably not til next xpac. Even then I wouldnât count on a major redesign. Ion and his âdevâ team are using diablo 3 as their model now. You can see it coming with legion and bfa. Its not about complete classes/specs. Builds revolve around the gear and the effects on the said gear.
Going by what other classes are getting. Ret may get talents removed, and rehashed talents added back. Then some will be shuffled around between tiers. Topped with slight number tuning.
Iâve thoroughly enjoyed Ret. I can only compare it to Ret in Vanilla (which I hated), but itâs been fun to play. So much so that this is the first XPac I havenât played my original Warlock character.
I think the biggest detriment to games right now is how min/max obsessed some people can be. Stop pouring over damage graphs and DPS rankings. Play the game.
People treat Azerite traits the same way. I pick which traits sound like theyâd be fun or beneficial. I have no idea if they are the âbestâ traits or Iâm âoptimizing my dpsâ because frankly I couldnât care less and it seems to rob people who do care of their enjoyment of the game.

OP have you saw unholy dk?
Almost all of your gear is either bought or comes from warfronts. What if I want to do activities beyond LFR? When was the last time you were putting a M+ group together and picked a ret over any other melee besides feral?

Same here. I love the playstyle of ret almost as much as I enjoyed it during Legion. I donât really care where I rank on the meters. My e-peen doesnât need any stroking.

Ya I have, you are 13 ranks above ret and you are getting substantial buffs in 8.1 from what I hear.
You are also only looking at one data point.
Go flip it over Death %. Ret bumps up to middle pack. Almost all the top DPS sinks to the bottom. And even then, thatâs only two numbers, neither of which take into account the player behind the character. Iâd rather run with someone who is fun to play with but has lower DPS potential than a jerk of a top DPS spec.
If you treat the game like work, itâll feel like work. Iâm not going to emulate people who seem to be having a miserable time.

Whaaaaat!?
Ret Paladins are one of the strongest specs in the game, to be honest. I find it is nearly impossible to die as one solo, the DPS rotation is the easiest to learn, bar none, and they put out some good damage too. Maybe not absolute top-tier, but they are rather strong.
I really donât know what the OP is going on about.

Weâre hybrids. Can the outperforming melee DPS classes also change spec to tank or heal?
How do we stack against, say Feral druids?
I donât know Shaman well enough to know if that is even an apt comparison, but I do think the field of comparison needs to be narrowed to allow for the overall versatility of the class.
Weâll never be topping out DPS boards over pure classes, and oughtnât expect to. We contribute different utility.

I feel we are ok with damage etc. My issue right now is they are boring as crap to play and I could literally take a nap while playing and still maintain my DPS.

Lol ret is fine. I wish WW monks could heal 70% of their health in a few flash of lights. I would kill for a couple bubbles, and to not have most of my DPS tied to two cooldowns.
