When will Blizz fix this launch delay from Battle net Launcher?

This has been an occurring issue since mid Shadowlands from what I remember and their replies are always “send us your logs”. Can Blizz please stop blaming this on our computers and start acknowledging the issue is from their side? I’ve constantly seen this issue brought up since from so many others.

How long are we talking? Mine is usually a max of 5 seconds before the launch screen shows that it is logging in, but more like 2–3 seconds.

Lately, for myself and many of my friends, the game stops responding entirely when it first loads. We remember in recent history there was a large delay getting the client to actually display, but then things would be normal. Currently, we have the opposite problem. The game client appears fairly quickly, but it is completely unresponsive for several seconds (to the point where Windows will identify it as unresponsive) before it goes back into motion.

Sounds like another app overlay might be interfering with where the game is supposed to display. I know a lot of people use nvidia or amd tools to capture gameplay, or overwolf. But that behavior is not normal.

I agree that it’s abnormal. But I can confirm that it’s not Overwolf, Discord, or any streaming/capture software. I’ve killed all of that on my system and it’s still hanging for up to 30 seconds at launch.

I don’t even run capture or streaming software on my system.

Are you all using AMD cards? I know some models have to build a shader cache before you can fully load the game. Some problem with how AMD designed the driver.

Not sure about everyone, but I am. However, my driver is from 1/4/24 and I’m not sure it’s been happening this whole time. And yes, that’s the current version for my card according to the control center.

There is a preview version available for your card, but you’d need to go to AMD’s website for that one.

I was having this issue for the longest time, I mean it was making it so I didn’t even want to play. After long wait times just to launch, I had issues with loading into dungeons etc.

I was super annoyed by it, but I managed to fix my issue by getting a new SSD and some extra RAM (not sure the RAM was needed but wanted to upgrade) - I moved WoW to my SSD, which is recommended anyways, and have not had this issue since.

Not saying that is ISN’T Blizzard in your case, but just wanted to offer a potential fix. I believe they made SSD part of the ‘minimal’ or ‘basic’ requirements for running WoW as it should run currently.

Edit to note if it wasn’t clear, WoW was not originally on an SSD, as it was only for my OS. I moved WoW -to- the SSD.

Yeah, good call. An SSD is actually a requirement, not even a recommendation anymore.
