I guess they could open a new branch in Texas and move most of the work to that branch instead but at the end of the day anything that’s not California is better.
In THIS economy?
Typical leftist. Tries to gaslight and when that fails revert into trolling.
The current writers (a bunch of 20 something California leftie progressives out of college with no life experience) are not really capable of writing interesting epic fantasy, which requires an understanding of history, experience with actual adversity, etc.
In short, the writers are not capable of writing interesting characters, because they are not interesting people and have nothing interesting to say.
Metzen said that team now works through democracy, they all pick what each individual like and the conclusion is this salad mess of nothing
So basically it’s literally the meme of writing a story in a corporate committee.
There didn’t need to be any “seeds” for Arthas to be an enjoyable character. It was the first campaign of a 4 campaign game, and it was set-up and finished in like 3 hours. Ditto most of the WC3 characters that are still the characters people like the most.
No. We’re going to get more Anduin crying and Thrall having elemental dysfunction.
New male orc character would be the easiest writing in the world. You just make it Thrall’s son and he wants to be a strong warlike orc like Garrosh instead of a peaceful orc like Thrall. Then you have a dynamic of father/son, competing visions about the history and purpose of the orcs, callbacks to fan favorites like garrosh and grom, can set up new alliance/horde tension which people want, etc.
Anduin also needs to stop being a soy boy. If the writers are smart they would kill Faerin immediately in the next big patch, remove the character no-one likes, and use that as a catalyst to make him angry and/or confident again. Fits fine into the current story, where she helps him regain the light and then is tragically lost, and solves two problems.
Anduin could be traumatized due Jailer mind control, imagine Anduin like a fanatic retribution pally, killing his enemies like a fanatical leader.
Doubts about not being himself while killing innocents is so much better than crying like a nobody doing nothing in a disney plot.
Dude imagine Thrall son like a Blademaster leader, huge ponytail and beard, massive sword, ruthless and savage but yet with some Thrall influence.
That would be SO BADASS.
There’s so much you could do with a father/son dynamic with Thrall’s son and the tension between modern peaceful and traditional conqueror/warlike orcs. But of course we all know the current writers are allergic to any whiff of masculinity which prevents them from doing the obvious and easy thing exploring these dynamics and having strong masculine characters to explore them (at least in part).
Aside from the fact you would just be repeating the Thrall/Garrosh story, sure.
And there is that as well.
I mean. He is traumatized by it and there are people in the player base calling him a baby for it because he didn’t start adhoc vengeance and killing apparently.
BG3 Dark Urge lets you do this way better than WoW ever will, not all people go into murder mode while suffering from PTSD/similar.
No, he’s a baby for it because basically every other character in the setting has been through worse than being made to stab a robot angel lady one time.
The fact that he’s not chugging testosterone means he’s basically a woman in the eyes of certain weirdos.
That said, not really shocked this thread devolved the way it did.
It also includes the people he tried to kill at the Sepulcher, which on the Alliance side, includes several heroes who he spent at least a decade considering his close friends and trusted confidants.
I have considered him an annoyance since MoP. If he considers me a close friend and trusted confidant he is very much mistaken and I enjoyed having the opportunity to beat him.
Isn’t this thread asking for things that aren’t just more of the same?
He’s younger than most other heroes who have gone through related trauma, he hasn’t had parental guidance for pretty much his entire life, has only ever been a figurehead/king. Yeah add in “being mind controlled into a slaughter machine” and you get someone who likely isn’t about to start violence again as he has HUGE self doubt about himself after that entire experience.
It’s a different take on trauma that makes solid sense, it’s not super deep but what in WoW is nowadays?
I think the mistake the devs made was waiting 2 xpacs to deal with it. For the players his “trauma” was quite a while ago. The playerbase is used to old storylines being dropped once the next xpac rolls around. Not still dealing with things several xpacs later.
the company has not stated they hired less qualified people due to their ethnicity, orientation, etc
also. be careful. coming close to letting your true colors out with this convo.
Considering how quickly the story kills off characters who can come across as badass, I’d say chances are slim to none. The General, Krexus, even Baelgrim. Characters like those never seem to survive long at all.
