When was the last time you cleaned your keyboard?

I recently split half a glass of coke into my keyboard, I rarely drink coke so it was a bit of a treat and most of it ended up in the left hand side of my keys

I got as much of the liquid out as I could then had to go to work

Today I decided to unsticky our the keys

My key board is 10 years old and I’ve never removed the keys to clean it

I’m getting a new one and burning my old one

Three ish weeks ago. No mess or sticky. Just a lot of crumbs

Not that often tbh. The only reason anything in my study gets cleaned is because the Mrs pc is right next to it and I get reminded.

Work is worse. Lost the little vacuum that I used to use.

If I posted an image of my keyboard I’m sure the center of health and public safety would show up to arrest me for some health code violation.

This is the only way to do it.

I usually clean mine about once per month. I remove the caps and soak them in hot water for ~5 minutes. I also take a brush to the keyboard itself to get rid of any dirt or crumbs.

I try to stay clean in front of my keyboard to avoid that kind of situation lol.

I’ve been using the same Microsoft Keyboard since 2005. Very confortable and works fine so I never felt the need to change it. Gaming keyboards don’t look super confortable.

I’ve got a Mac style keyboard with a key cover over it. Nothing gets in my keyboard! :muscle:t3:

Two days ago after my sister’s cats came over! They are so cute but they enjoy making a mess of everything I own.

I rarely take the keys off, but I flip it over and data vac it once a month when I blow out my pc and clean the filters. I wipe the keys every week.

Yeah I think that’s where a lot of my issues have come from too

I am not a particularly filthy person. I wash my hands often. I don’t eat at the computer. No pets. Every now and then I wipe across it with some windex or some other cleaner. So it looks almost brand new without much effort, and it works fine.

the entire situation sounds gross and why would you put your drink in a position you could knock it over and not cleaning for 10 years…

like a year ago. unlike most people i do not eat at my computer so it doesnt get dirty just dusty.

I only clean it when the shake tabaco from home rolled cigarettes causes problems with sticky keys. Happens about once a year or so, although my new keyboard has the keys raised a lot more then my old one so I might not have that problem again until I want to replace this one.

I run a nail file between the rows of keys, which pulls up wads of cat fur. Then it’s just a matter of shaking out a few crumbs.

Cleaned my keyboard?

Uh, be right back …

Recently. Yep, just cleaned it, um, recently.
