Title says it all.
Down time is 7AM to 6PM Pacific Time, not 24 hours.
They’re using common core math. lol
The expected downtime said 3pm PDT earlier, now it’s 6 PDT.
Clearly something came up.
Communist math.
I am asking has WoW ever been down for 24 hours? …
Not down for 24 hours but back in vanilla some of the servers, namely Lagrammar had incredible lag after one of the patches for a couple of days here and a couple of days there to the point of barely being playable. I’ve not seen anything like that since. But that was a long time ago in a realm far far away.
Yes it has…when we went from TBC too LK they updated hardware for it…each and every realms for a few weeks before LK went down for 24 hrs they did it in batches…
The longest down time I can remember was LK patch 3.2 The Calling of the Crusade when we were down for 10 hrs of maintenance patch then came up only to crash 30 mins later and all realms around the world crashed and most were down for over 30+ hours.
I wasn’t here for Vanilla but did hear of many weeks where game was down for 2 to 3 days in the very early days of the game too.
Guess you were not here for patch 3.2 in LK …30+ hour of down time and then the hardware changes from TBC too LK…all realms went down in batches pre planned to change hardware and were down for 24 hrs each time…all realms went though it.
There were periods of time that I buried myself in work because of life issues and it would have been around that time, so perhaps I was lucky and missed out on that fun.
No it never has…
Down like “We are announcing it will be down for X”? I don’t think they did any real announcements like that, but I remember at WOTLK launch it being so unplayable that they credited everyone 3 days of game time.
Oh yes it has Fredfelstone…been there done that Yes it has…when we went from TBC too LK they updated hardware for it…each and every realms for a few weeks before LK went down for 24 hrs they did it in batches…

it was down for 24 hours several times during vanilla, bc, and wrath. and the wod launch was so bad that it was completely unplayable for like 5 days
It’s common for major updates or overhauls. Although you would think after 25 years, they would have better tech that wouldn’t need such long downtimes following months of a server up testing it. If they mirrored all the servers and updated them prior to patch day, and then hit a switch making them live could work, although that’s probably expensive.
The Corrupted Blood Incident
Sept 13 through Oct 08 2005. I remember at LEAST 3-4 days that no one could log in.
All because of a hunters pet lol
No, it has never been down for 24 straight hours.
Yes they have had announcement for being down 24 hrs…when we went from TBC too LK they did hardware upgrade to all realms…so they took batches of realms offline for 24 hrs and replace stuff…every realm went though it …
I think it was summer 2005 when game was down for 3 days. My vague recollection is that it went down on a weekend. They tried several server reboots first.
Fall but yes, you are correct. I posted the event
