You looked at another character when you were completely new to the game and thought “wow what they have looks awesome”?
For me it was in Darkshire, I saw someone with the fiery weapon and icy chill enchant. Ended up whispering them asking how they made their weapons glow like that.

I think I saw someone running in full judgement plate around Stormwind. Thinking back, unsure why they were running in T2 during 3.1, but to each their own.
I was helping a Rogue Night Elf on my Monk.
Then they pulled out a pistol and blew a Murloc’s head clean off.
And here I am.
lmao.
An orc helped me kill those nasty trolls on the starter island back in vanilla, at level 9 he ripped through those things which were tearing my level 6 azmodan apart. Nobody told me you go to razor hill before backtracking to tiger island.
Back before transmogs in Vanilla I used to think the people in the raid gear looked really cool. That’s what made me want to raid actually.

In 2007 I was playing a Night Elf who never left the 2 first zones. Some guy told me about a cool city I should visit. We walked all the way to Ironforge and then Stormwind.
It was the first time I was seeing level 70 players with their amazing looking sets and I thought omg those must be very good players and I will never get these armors.

It was me
My mage In full valourous frost fire garb when it was current feeling like a total bad B
Though I never ever got the turning tide
iron forge was the main city.
it took a while to get to max level and when i saw max level ppl hanging out around the donut i’d get envious
been a LONG time. wasn’t even on this account. strangely, around the same time i remember taking 3 hours to fill a gnomeregan group and failing horribly, again and again. wipe fiesta.
i dont think i could emulate those days anymore. even classic doesnt do it justice. the internet/world/people changed too much. it’s… different heh.
*Vague souvenirs of making gold by telling jokes. id whisper someone if theyd spare a gold (yes, ONE gold - how times changed lol) if i made them laugh and then i told them a random joke. didnt work all the time but pretty often!
I saw a player on an orange tiger mount and was really confused because the riding trainer in Darnassus didn’t sell any orange mounts. Had to look it up on Thottbot and realized this guy must have been a raider.
I still look at other characters to see what they have equipped.
I still see some pretty awesome collections of gear.
When I was in the military.
Oh, vanilla WoW mage tier 3
wiggles toes
First time I saw a moonkin. Was a druid in XR. Made a druid after that.
Would have been back in vanilla seeing some random RP walking through Ironforge with Hand of Rag.
Pretty incredible thing to see back then

Before transmog in a non combat location. Not really surprising.

Oh, good question. Probably back in the beta in Goldshire, though I can’t pinpoint exactly what I was in awe about.
Though in a separate yet related note, my character was sometimes in awe to others back then. I took my NE to Goldshire at the lowest level possible, and got many looks and questions on how I got there. Hint: many deaths in the wetlands.

I started playing in 2004, so I can’t remember, but it was probably someone walking around Ironforge.

Back when I was on my noob hunter at the start of my wow journey. I saw a warlock on their dreadsteed in stormwind and was fascinated.
And voila. This toon was made

I was new, of course, and had just finished questing in Northshire for the first time and made my way to Goldshire and saw a hunter in Gronnstalker

My best guess, based on other stuff I remember from when I started the game - guild RP event, probably.
