The whole ‘being dead’ thing complicates matters…to be quite honest I’m shocked he had anything resembling a ‘soul’ left after what Gul’dan did to him.
Granted, with all the madness that happens in Shadowlands, stranger things have happened.

Nobody ever stays dead in this world. It’s just a matter of time before he returns.
Illidan died at least twice, in pretty brutal ways, and we know we’ll see him again. Gul’dan was killed, and his skull used in some demonic ritual, and even he came back somehow. There’s no reason Varian can’t come back, when other characters have survived worse.

I’m sorry but well he’s gone forever like even if Blizzard was open to undoing disenchants Guldan isn’t around to put in the ticket to support anymore because of Illidaddy

We should’ve been able to see him in Shadowlands. Maybe he could’ve become a spider person like Amber whatshername.
Isn’t a certain dragon aspect coming back in DF after having her body turned into a constellation in Legion?

It’s higly likely his soul was mostly destroyed suspect the reason why we see Varian and Saurfang in that cutscene is because they both died wielding the weapon and a part of their soul or essence was absorbed into the weapon like wouldn’t surprise me if the magic Sylvanas used on Saurfang destroyed most of his soul as well considering the nature of it.
