I can upgrade 2 pieces of gear to 463 and 450 but it means breaking up my 4p set, im currently 441 Arcane mage. thanks
Tough question, for world content easy to break up as soon as you have a better ilvl piece, but as S3 starts we will likely benefit from the 4-piece bonus up to the point when we can at least put on S3 2-piece, and run 2P 2P for a while. A big part of the answer comes down to RNG…what you get.
So far I’ve got a 450 trinket that I like, recrafted my helm to 463, and upped a ring to 463. And starting tomorrow just start building from the what the game rolls for me.
I put this in another thread but Just an FYI the gear you get from the dream surge and time RIFT vendors can be upgraded to 450 and it still counts as season 2 , so you can catalyst that to get some basically free ilvl upgrades on season 2 set. Just need upgrade it before you put it in the catalyst because it loses it’s upgrade track for some reason after getting changed to tier, you can also do this to adjust stats.
I think i will break my set once i have atleast 2 heroic level gear pieces, i am sure the guides will be updated soon as the season kicks off.
How did you upgraded two pieces to 463?

I recrafted one (helm) with the new sparks and used the upgrade items on the other one (veteran quality ring).
Wowhead updated - For Arcane Mages, you will want to break your Season 2 4 set bonus as soon as possible with the new Amidrassil 2 set, as the set isn’t very powerful, for best results make sure you are simming your character on raidbots.

For some reason, mine does not lose the upgrade track when converted. I’m not complaining.

oh cool maybe its fixed, before it had the upgrade track but stopped before 450
