When Should I Be Casting Wrath or Starfire

Hi, so this eclipse mechanic, I hate it. I think it’s counterintuitive to have to cast the wrong spell twice for the given situation to start casting the correct one. My question is in scenarios such as, starting out with opening with solar eclipse when I’m dealing single target damage, when it then shifts into lunar eclipse, do I still keep spamming wrath? Or, do I switch to empowered starfire casts? So should I continue to cast wrath for single target and starfire for two or more targets and ignore the eclipse state? I just can’t wrap my head around it.

So once Solar runs out, you can cast 2 more Starfires to go right back into Solar Eclipse again

Okay thanks, so keep going into the eclipse for whichever one I should use for the situation.

Correct

It’s kinda braindead when you get eclipse. It’s just everything else that goes with it.

Balance also had to move where you can swing eclipse into the other direction instant. I’d like that back. I want to feel like I am in control when in eclipse too.

I need something that’ll apply my dots and spread it to everyone around and I’m good with balance.

Spreading moonfire and trying to keep track of what targets are on annoys me to no end. I feel like I need to use addons to be able to keep track of it all. Maybe weakauras.

I think it’s a native feature but if you have enemy nameplates on they will show what dots / de buffs they have in them. That may help, I think the default keybind is V

It’s such an annoying arbitrary mechanic, having to cast a spell of the complete opposite of what you want to cast 2 times, to finally start casting what you’ve been wanting to cast.

It should be simple, Wrath for single target, Starfire for AOE, done. Get rid of the annoying eclipse mechanic and let us cast what we need to cast for the specific situations

It’s because of demands like this that you’re stuck with what you’ve got.

This “annoying arbitrary mechanic” is a result of giving the player base what they asked for.

I’m sorry, who asked to cast 2 spells of the complete opposite spell of what we want to cast again?

Almost every single Boomkin who didn’t understand how the Eclipse system worked, or where their damage came from.

And this isn’t meant to be demeaning in anyway, but people like you. Even before you got to choose which Eclipse state you were in, casting Wrath during Solar Eclipse in an AoE setting resulted in more DPS.

People understand how the eclipse system works, it’s just annoying having to micro manage and track when specifically the eclipse ends so we have to start casting the opposite spell of what we really want to cast to go back into the eclipse we want, to finally start casting the spell that’s needed for the current situtation.

If a situation demands single target, then wrath. If a situation calls for AOE, then starfire, is how it should be. Simple.

They don’t. Otherwise they wouldn’t be starting so many threads with:

No you’re absolutely right let’s keep the annoying and arbitrary systems like this making us cast spells the opposite of what we want to cast, the players would love more systems like this, let’s add more annoyances and complexity to all specs, heck why stop there, add more complexity to trash mobs in dungeons and raids and make things even more annoying to deal with, you right man.

More proof of not actually understanding why the mechanic is the way it is or why the player base is to blame.

:+1: Good for you man, you’re right, people love having to deal with more annoying systems from their class, ontop of multiple mechanics from trash mobs, dungeon bosses and raids. We should definitely make the game more complicated right.

Well, this game may not be for you, because every class and every spec has it’s own nuances to deal with on top of game mechanics.

May I point you to Hello Kitty World? That seems fairly straight forward enough for your liking

Anything starfire hits should refresh moon fire. Anything wrath hits should refresh sunfire.

It used to do that too. I just can’t remember the last expansion it was in.

It’s the reason I quit balance in Wrath and can’t stand coming back every time I try again. Unapologetically, machine gun Wrath was more fun.

Good suggestions here. But that’s also why Blizzard won’t use them. “Mother knows best”, after all.
