When new servers are released, consider adding no addons server

After phase 6 and maybe before TBC I predict new servers will be released. I will be playing on one of the new servers. As I was giving this more thought I just thought i’d bring up the topic. I believe this will feel more like vanilla since back then the minority used addons where as now it is probably closer to half or more.

I think it will be fun and adds a little extra challenge. What are your thoughts on a no addon server?

Every single player I knew in game used add ons during Vanilla.

I doubt they’d ever do specific niche servers like that, or even fresh at all- but if they do I assume they’d be one or two plain servers.

But, lets say they considered it- I’d like a Vanilla server, that behaved exactly like Vanilla, warts and all, starting at launch and moving up each patch.

Why though? You’ll never get enough people to play on a server like that.

Would you not? I’d play

I could go either way really. The addons I typically use are for gathering data, or visual UI stuff.

I don’t really think it would make much of a difference mechanically, tbh.

Addons were and are an integral part of WoW. The developers had to work hard to give us such a robust system with which to build addons. It was a very deliberate decision by the dev team. It’s not some aftermarket hack that they tolerate.

As for most people not using addons in vanilla, I find that a dubious assertion. Literally everyone I knew used addons.

I’m not against something like this, but there’s no way Blizzard can enforce something client side like this.

Bartender is the only one that I would really hate to go without…imagine having to cycle through bars manually

You are asking to play the game in alt-z mode. No one did it back then.

I don’t use many add ons but the base UI and party frames really sucks. I wouldn’t give up the add ons that change it.
