Probably first major update in wrath, I’d guess Ulduar perhaps.
Race changes actually destroy social aspects of the game. I am unable to immerse myself and have proper social interactions with people who constantly appropriate others cultures and then use them to enrich themselves. It’s a lot like LFD where it should remain absent from the game because it destroys the integrity of that “classic” feeling.

It’s really sad that I have actual memories of people non-sarcastically arguing this point, except even more absurdly about just general barbers. “If you can change how your character looks it ruins my sense of immersive continuity.” Ye, because people don’t change their hair, get or remove tattoos, or become scarred when they previously weren’t in real life…

i’d say that sounds about right. i know race changes were available when i started playing about a day before 3.3 was launched in 2009 and i remember ads for race changes saying “because i’d rather be a blood elf” on the launcher.
That’s a great ad because it really is that simple.
i remember playing Blood Elves quite often back in the day…now though? can’t really play them any more. i still prefer their old character models, but then again i honestly just prefer the old models period. .-.
It also sucks to be stucked in one faction and you have to start from zero to play with your friends in the other faction. Why is blizzard delaying the race/faction change? It doesn’t make any sense for a player to wait until p2 or even ToC to play with his friends, and losing all the previous content experiences.

They need to enable faction/race changes asap, idk what they’re waiting for, players are waiting to play with friends
I’m also waiting, I used my boost pre-workload and then my gf (who finally decided to play wow with me) decided she wants to be the opposing faction (she had no idea how the game works and had no idea that meant I’d have to make new characters from scratch when I (should be) leveling 70 to 80. I’m just grateful she wants to play … don’t get me wrong. But the fact that I can’t even transfer the character over that I boosted 3 weeks ago really sucks, what are we waiting for??? Let people play and give you their $$. What’s the problem ?

In Wrath? Wrath is practically retail, everyone wants it to be even more retail, so maybe tomorrow?
In Era, roll something else as the game was designed.
#NO(RACE)CHANGES in Classic Era.
Or just go play Retail where you can change pretty much anything on any day.

In b4 benediction becomes the server with 100% of classic players on it leaving everywhere else at 0% and classic is now 100% alliance 0% horde!
