I mean, I am not sure, the movie wasn’t that bad, I guess I was just happy to be watching something made out of one of my favorite franchises that I didn’t perceive much of the flaws.

Though some of the lore differences really caught me, I mean, Frostwolf Doomhammer, Anduin and Garona, Time Wizard Medivh didn’t affect Khadgar with OLD AGE and so on.

Well, I am definitely sure the story of Arthas would be much more popular with the mainstream media just because, despite his amazing backstory, generic it can be. Arrogant hero’s fall from grace basically.

But still, I think an Arthas Warcraft movie is bound to be a lot more popular with just about everyone, but as you said, explaining why the burning Legion is infecting the Eastern Kingdoms with undeath is bound to be complicated when you only got 2h of show running.

There’s a lot of interest out there. Like Lhayne said, Henry Cavill has shown interest in acting in a Warcraft movie (he’d be an amazing Arthas), and Chris Metzen has said that he’d like to see an adaptation of “Of Blood and Honor”, which is about Tirion and Eitrigg.

IMO, they should have done the Star Wars strategy. Start in the middle with Arthas’ story, it’s the most well known and mainstream one, and then do prequels and sequels once the universe is established.

There’s also the issue of casual movie goers. If they enjoyed the first film, then I have a feeling they might be confused if they don’t get a continuation of the stories of Anduin Lothar, Garona, Khadgar, and Gul’Dan’s Horde.

Skip Warcraft II and give us Warcraft III (Arthas) and we’re in business. Not that Warcraft II isn’t legendary, but Arthas’ role in WC3 has the best story for film’s sake.

Damn, I actually like that idea. As it’s an adaptation, I suppose you could merge the First and Second War into one long conflict to keep it simple for the viewers not versed in the series lore. Spend the first 15 minutes or so doing a recap of the first film, the aftermath, then dive into the story of Tirion and Eitrigg. Tirion is already a fan favorite character, and Eitrigg would be the perfect stand in for Durotan and Thrall as neither would be present for this story (at least not until the end, which would serve as the intro to Thrall). It would be a nice setup to see the good and the bad from both factions and can be a soft reboot of sorts that leads into an adaptation of WC3 if it does well.

You mean the next tearing and lore rewrite of Wow so people think yet again that Mak’gura doesn’t allow magic when it actually does and WC1 movie just got permission to change the lore? Please no…
