We all know today’s lore is more of a Marvel fanservice of seeing the same 5 characters go into hissyfits, my question to you is:

It became garbage when they ran out of original Warcraft lore and had to start making their own. Pretty much the same situation as Game of Thrones.

Exactly. After Wraith everything started going downhill.
They fit in the left over lore where they could…be the main story lines were spent.
100% CORRECT. Everything after Wrath has been boring in terms of lore with each expansion getting progressively worse and more off course and bizarre.

Warcraft 3 was about Arthas, but Warcraft 2 was about all of the Eastern Kingdoms.
There’s still so much that’s just been forgotten and left to rot in Azeroth because now we kill god every expansion like some anime characters.
to me when they start making lore that makes no sense or is easily thought of.
idk if you watched this movie but i think it had great reviews but tbh the plot was terrible because it was easily deciphered. the movie is called Blood diamond it came out not too long ago. idk if based off the real diamond because yes there is a story with a VERY similar diamond/effect just like in the movie well 2 actually 1 brings death only the other brings like good fortune but makes people crazy too.
it was okay at first, got boring, then when you think it is going to get juicy it just bleh… makes you feel like you wasted your time watching it. just my 2c on the movie that is i mean it was okay…
there are a LOT of things in this game that makes ZERO sense lore wise/player wise such as why tf can UD be priests yet it basically hurts and im sure to an extent can kill them especially with Holy spec and maybe disc too. Warlocks make no sense in this game imo if you compare it to real life demonology as well it is the warlock that basically becomes the tool not the demons.

People would have hated Wrath and BC’s story if it didn’t have the build up of WC3. On their WoW representation, Arthas especially is basically a scooby doo villain.
MoP. Loved the expansion but lore died then.

In my opinion the beginning of the end came with TBC. When lore was put aside in favor of making loot pinatas out of Kael, Illidan, etc.
Example: Illidan banished himself to Outlands to hide from Sargeras after saving Azeroth. Where is the logical, linear, lore based reason for us to travel to Outlands and kill Illidan?
I have never found the lore in WoW to be at all compelling.
Frankly, I’m more interested in it now, but I expect I’ll not be satisfied. I always have a soft spot for ancient/lost cultures. So I’m all about the First Ones. And who made the Eternal Ones. etc. Or the void lords.
Those are my kinda things, which I’ll grant is probably not what others are into.

“Rule of Cool” is story. Check it out yourself, it really is. No real effort.
“Epic Do-Over” is the lore; sorry and sadly to say, this game has never tried to take itself seriously.
Just look at their 10 codes of gaming: Gameplay First really is just that.
Lore? Story? Not here, not at all.
The lore starting to tank when they started focusing on these long connected expansions long storylines. Remember the story of vanilla wow? there really wasnt one, just a bunch of loosely connected tales tied mostly to the zone you where in. I think TBC was when they moved to focus to a “big bad” of the expansion and after WotLK they had to start coming up with their own characters which most of them suck.
