I purchased the character boost for my holy paladin. He’s currently 59, and the game is nearly unplayable. I can pull one enemy at a time, and after I use two-three abilities I’m out of mana and have to stand there auto-attacking for a minute before the enemy dies. Then I have to drink to recover mana (IF I manage to have enough gold to buy water). Sooooo when does this game become playable? This is not fun. At all.
Either go shadow for questing/DPS or do a few quests/spend some gold on TBC greens to replace the crap boost gear they gave us. There’s so many groups going on right now you can always get a steady stream of dungeons as heals.
How could I possibly heal dungeons when Flash of Light heals 1% of max health and Holy Light eats up 30% of my mana per cast?
You need to get a proper weapon ASAP. Boosted weapon doesn’t give SP/Healing, as dumb as that is.
Either go ret or go back to retail until wotlk.
I’m only leveling this guy to 70 so he’s ready when Wrath comes out.
it’s up to you to educate yourself holy is not really the best for damage and solo leveling
Lol I hope you’re not playing holy for solo leveling because that might be why it’s so hard. Maybe try Ret, it’s so much easier.
^ This. Spec Ret. You’ll use a lot less mana because you won’t need it as badly to deal damage. You’ll have a much easier time leveling as Ret than as Holy. You’ll mostly be wearing Strength+Stamina gear. Increased Strength = more attack power, which means bigger melee hits. Bigger melee hits = bigger Seal of Command procs.
As everyone said, you’ll want to level a pally as ret.
Resto shaman leveling is far superior to leveling as a holy paladin.
Good thing you bought the boost.
Who needs general knowledge of the game before being given a high level character unlike others that spent many hours cultivating that character on the way to 60? This is totally not a big deal. You got this man.
You’re well on your way to being a great part of the community. Keep your eye on the cash shop so you’re ready to buy the next boost.
So I have to pay 20% of the measly gold they gave me so I can switch to a spec that’s playable even though I want to be a healer for dungeons? But I can’t heal dungeons because my mana is gone in there casts…
The moment you start to play.
Have you tried playing something else, or somewhere else?
What’s your spec like? Which 3 abilities? (what’s your typical rotation)?
Because you’re calling your Paladin a Holy Paladin, I’ll assume that you have a deep holy, healing-centric build. This is likely why mobs aren’t dying very quickly.
What do you expect from a healer?
What are you casting? What does your talent build look like?
Go Retribution for better questing to get you some gear that isn’t garbage like the boosted starter gear is(especially for hybrids). You could heal dungeons as holy but I wouldn’t exactly recommend a new player using the boost gear attempt that, unfortunately.
Also as a Paladin you’re going to be doing a lot of auto-attacking. Sorry to say, but that’s just how the class you boosted is played. Going full bore on DPS can burn your mana quickly, especially without full raid buffs/consumables.
Essentially for world mobs you’re looking at:
- Use Seal of the Crusader, then Judgement
- Use rank 1 Seal of Command
- Spam Crusader Strike on cooldown
- Use Holy Light as needed to stay alive
As you get some decent gear you’ll have to drink less but that’s never going away. In the Classic era all the mana users pretty much have to drink every couple of fights.
Classic ain’t hard, bruh. Get over yourself. It’s tedious and painfully boring.
I have high level characters on retail doing high level content. I know how to play a real game. I can handle the two button specs of Classic…
We gonna act like you aren’t buying gold? C’mon man. Just throw some more irl cash at your in game challenges. Duh.
typically paladin heels use the lowest rank of heels to save mana and stack healing power to compensate
Just to note you don’t use the lowest rank as there is a severe penalty for how much +healing those spells get but in general yes, using lower ranks of healing spells is useful.
At least until you get enough spell crit, then Illumination go brrrr.
Tell us more about how you have no real life money…
lookout guys, we got a bad a33 over here!
