When does Rogue get fun?

So in my boredom I took up playing a Rogue as I never played one before. And to be honest it’s kinda boring. I’m wondering if the other two specs Subtlety or Assassination are more fun. Every site recommends Outlaw, but Roll them Bones is annoying to deal with and it just seems like I’m out of energy immediately and I feel like I’m waiting for a bus. I always figured Rogue was a fast paced class. What am I doing wrong?

First, pick the right Mascara. Avoid the blues, that was so 80’s.

When you get the right mascara and eyeliner to go with it. Oh and lipstick is a must!

Honestly, these days I think it’s past 60ish (but I am not sure since it’s been a while since I leveled one). I also prefer sub since it’s super sneaky, even if a little more fragile.

Rouge is not a fun color, pretty boring. Couldn’t agree more.

When you’re partying in the club?

So my phone auto corrected it or I spelled it wrong one of the two.

Combat isn’t a thing anymore. I assume you’re talking about outlaw. Outlaw probably has one of the most active rotations with the lowest down time. If you think it’s slow in Outlaw, you will hate Assassination. Sub is pretty fun, but takes some practice.

In all seriousness, play assassination. Less of a headache with rng.i can’t speak about sub, but I am leveling a rogue right now as sub and it seems okay.

Better than the rng of outlaw.

Assassination Rouge looks great, it has a lot of blood red in it.

Seriously, I love my Assassination Rogue, only took me a few days to level it all the way up, and it drops the mobs quickly.

Assassin is always slow.
And you are level 48, that is what’s wrong. Rogue hits it’s footing when you get much higher in level, and even better when you get 120 and proper gear.

It’s just how a lot of specs are.

Personally, I’ve never liked combat for rogue, especially once they changed it to outlaw. Assassination is my preferred spec. However, no specs in the game feel particularly great before max lvl with current borrowed power.

Rogue is a good class, once you get it to max.

I had to boost mine, I couldn’t level one normally.

At max though, I find it enjoyable to play because you have your entire toolkit.

I just got shadow dance on my rogue alt and it makes things so much smother. Big ambush crit spam every minute or so

I miss the combat rogue of old. I made an assassination rogue and he feels more like the combat rogue I like than my combat rogue. I do like pistols but hate RTB. It’s too dominant in game play.

Oh I almost forgot - the word on the street is they are buffing sub beyond reality (at least until the notice and tweak it back down) so give it a try.

Ya even after nerfs, sub is looking pretty dominant.

I didn’t expect to get absolutely spammed, but I will take time to read and respond to everybody when I can. But it looks like the consensus is to play Subtlety so I will try that then.

For all of my Rogues, somewhere between 60-70 something they start to feel better. There’s simply not enough abilities or Haste before then.

Also, you’re likely going to want to spec into the extra Energy ability, and I NEVER use Roll the Bones. I know the DPS is higher in theory, but I hate the RNG nature of what should be standard damage. I use Slice & Dice, which replaces RtB. Slice & Dice and me go way back, all the way back to my Sub days.

Speaking of Subtlety, once you’re more/less leveled, give it a go. Even though it was fairly weak in BfA I enjoyed it as an off-spec. The relatively short cooldowns on some pretty good damage boosters make Sub very fun still. If they’re looking good in Beta, I might actually change my main from Outlaw back to Sub.

Hang in there, big guy. Rogues are definitely fun. You only have a handful of levels to go before you start to see it.

Not a rogue expert, but here are my experiences.
1 - you’ll want to keybind th4e macro for pickpocket and sap on one button as a fun opening thing. Also look at abilities that build combo points and things that don’t use energy.
2 - pretty sure rogue has a spammable little damage something to regenerate energy, or a talent making some things free.
3 - maybe try gnome rogue for faster fun combat animations. (gnome dk all in black d-wielding glowing swords is a badass sight to see in combat - made me think of darth yoda.)
4 - Outlaw has fun utility and random gun shooting and seems decently sturdy. And seeing legion treasures without treasure maps was handy, Assassination kills very fast (especially getting talent to let stealth abilities work seconds after coming out of stealth). Subtlety I think is mathematically the most damage per energy spent, but so much damage over 10+ seconds when fights often end in 3 seconds. Subtlety might be good on rares or something.

I don’t have it leveled so I was leveling it for leveling it’s sake. Also I don’t remember what mistake I made there it could’ve been autocorrect, but I’m not going to write off me being stupid. Just be less of a jerk next time please.
