When do YOU plan on upgrading?

11th gen looks like it could be promising.

According to leaks, the i9-11900 scores as high single-core as the 5.3ghz 10900k but at only 4.5ghz.

So how long till DDR5 becomes the standard? I’m thinking that might be the kicker for me to upgrade.

If it’s not anytime soon, is it possible that the stardardisation of DDR5 in gaming rigs would coincide with something like the RTX 4000 series and Ryzen 6000 series?

right now my system handles every game including WoW with no issue. I may look at a new monitor prices starting around summer time and will then follow with a new GPU. CPU wise the OC 9700k runs through every game so I don’t see any upgrade therr until 2022 at the earliest depending on DDR5 prices. I don’t chase theoretical FPS so as long as the game looks good and it’s playable, I’m happy.

8700k 16gb ram 1tb nvme m2 …gtx 1080…the system is only 2.5 years old. Runs well for what i do.

Plans for doubling the ram and a gpu upgrade in the next 6 months.

Probably wont seek a new computer for another 2 to 3 years.

Basically with a healthy OC, it’s more than fine, even with an RTX 3080. My personal results echo this.

I’ve watched a few dozen videos with 8700K comparisons and that’s why I decided to keep mine for a couple more years. I run a bigger resolution outside 1080p so the only thing I may want to upgrade is my GPU (2060 Super) in the future but even that’s iffy.

Yep, snagged a 3080 on my 5ghz 8700k and am still quite happy with the results.

soon for me my comp is getting slower by the weeks it’s a 6 year old build but parts are older then that maybe 7 year old parts already slowing down drastically plus im out of storage space and CPU keeps giving me error or maybe mobo keeps saying cpu overheating when i think it’s just the thermal paste gone bad.

i was planning to upgrade for SL but release date was so close that i didn’t. i got the money to buy a full setup nothing amazing but get the job done and better then my current setup but im trying to see how long this comp will last as well.
