When do you consider leaving a PUG M+ run?

Lol no. You can’t force people to carry you. Get better and become worth the time. Become wanted.

Or just sit back and pout, and get nowhere. If they left then clearly you weren’t worth grouping with. Change that.

at 50 deaths on 2nd boss i consider it’s time.

I only left a M+ run once when the Healer and Tank couldn’t keep up and the group accumulated 34 deaths before the second boss

I have no set rule for leaving.

I’ll leave a group when it becomes obvious to me that the group won’t be able to make it past a certain point in the dungeon, but that’s a very much a “I know it when I see it” kinda situation, like when the group can’t even survive Cragmaw’s first tantrum, but doesn’t have the DPS to kill it before that.

It’s nothing so solid as “X deaths before the first or second boss and I’m out”.

usually after someone else leaves or its obvious a group will not complete or take 2+ hours to complete and i didn’t join a completion run. I tend to stay through keys though to be honest.

Never had to leave a dungeon on m+ except this one time with 12 wipes on the 1st boss in KR .

Most of the time i kindly take the time to inspect the group before entering the instance , that way i can leave right away and they can replace/not waste a key. For that it’s quite simple , can’t gem/enchant your gear = i can’t be bothered to run with that .

I leave as soon as the first scrub with no mechanics leaves because mechanics aren’t being done

As someone who spends a lot of time raid tanking and so has to tank keys weekly for gear I have become more sensitive to my time. I have 4 other games I wanna play and sleep besides. So I’ll leave anytime dps do something wrong and do not take my advice when I tell them what they should have done. Anytime they obviously can’t pull the numbers to down packs. Or anytime the healer is unable to sustain the party through reasonable packs with dps interrupting. Basically if I am not having fun I leave. It’s less a ragequit and more a getaway from wasting my free time. I already spend all my playtime complaining about stuff I ain’t gonna waste time with clearly incompetent or outright hostile people.

That said I have no problem if one dps is pulling low damage but doing mechanics right and listening to my advice if the rest of us can still kill packs. I’m willing to stay in a key 15 mins over for good natured pugs.

And I’m just as likely to quit my key as anyone elses. My time is what matters to me not the key

I leave after the tank or healer leaves. There’s no salvaging it after that. Happens a LOT too.

Left a run once because the clueless DPS would wipe multiple times on the first boss in UR 4 (±. Been a while).
I had 2nd highest DPS as tank (lot less geared than now).

I would leave an M+ pug for personal attacks/abusive language. I will not stay for that. I just won’t.

I don’t think anyone should be punished further than a 30-minute deserter debuff for leaving content they don’t want to do, and nobody should feel obligated to sit and endure an abusive jerk in a game they pay to play…for fun.

Neither I nor anyone else in the game has a moral obligation to sit and listen to people call them names or watch as they hurl abuse at someone else, either. I just won’t do it. I’m a grownup and this is a game, and I don’t owe anybody anything in this game beyond civility. It’s the primary reason I don’t pug.

I wouldn’t leave an M+ pug for any other reason, even if it was going badly…but that’s my choice and my view of it. I have no issue with people leaving a pug for any reason they choose, but I think a 30-minute cooldown/deserter buff is reasonable.

hate to break it to you but there are people who don’t have the time to sit in a key for hours

I’ll leave a group, M+ or otherwise, when one of the following happens:

  1. RL demands it.
  2. Other people leave and the group isn’t finding a replacement.
  3. My gear is broken and we can’t repair.

I generally don’t leave other than that, I try to stick it out.

Then again I started in Vanilla where 8 hour BRD full clears were a thing, so…

I haven’t done M+ this expansion, but in Legion I only left once it became clear that we weren’t going to get the run completed at all. This usually only happened because other players left. So long as you have five players left, you can usually complete an M+ run, even if not necessarily within the timer.

generally i will leave any content after 3 consequtive wipes on the same part.
so like if it takes 2 tries but we beat it and move on id reset that counter and start counting wipes again on the next area/boss.
i personally think after 3 tries its good enough to call it since most are resolved by or on the third if your able to do it easily
i will always warn the group though that like its the last try for me then im moving on

If I’m healing like I usually do and I notice key things like there are zero silences. Failure to do mechanics. Failure to not stand in the bad. And we’re wiping because of it. I’ll leave.

Yup. Douche nozzles like you are why they only down rank now

I’ve only left a dungeon five times during BFA. Once was when someone broke into my house. The other times were when I had family emergencies. I let the others decide to leave first.

One of the many reasons I admire you. Thank you for existing!

When it’s quite clear it’s not going to fulfill what I want. If we wipe a bunch before first boss, and it’s clear this key isn’t going to be timed, I’m out. So long as there’s a chance to time it, I will remain.

This is only in pugs, of course. Which I rarely run with considering I have my guild.
