emmm new dev evoker here, can someone simplify for me on when do we hard cast level 3? Most of the YT guide that i see seems to prompt just level 1 cast in the rotation…
Well, each level has the same amount of damage in total, what changes is how that damage is split. Level 1 damage is mostly over time with some of it up front. Level 3 is mostly up front with some over time.
If you’re on trash that is dying quickly, you want that damage up front if possible,
Due to your mastery, on a boss fight, you want to use Tip the Scales (or manually cast Level 3 if it’s on cooldown) + Fire Breath early, and obviously again towards the end if he is about to die before the dot has ticked.
The reason you mostly cast at level 1 in most cases is because it’s faster. The damage is the same provided the target lives long enough for the dot to tick.
You are Right on Trash. But you may want to Tip Scales on the second Fire Breath because of the Talent Catalyze. If you Tip the first one, Then FB will Have a few seconds where its off the Boss. And you aren’t Benefitting from Catalyze
If the target will live through the duration, Rank 1. You will benefit from catalyze more and the dot can be hasted for an extra tick or two.
If the target won’t live long enough for the duration, Rank 3. More of the damage up front, but less benefit from catalyze.
This won’t be true anymore after you get the new 4-piece tier bonus.
It also gives it more active time with Catalyze if you level 1 cast it vs Max, which is noticeably important on longer fights.
on a boss with dragon rage I think the ideal is lvl 2, as you will cause good instant damage and keep the DOT active until the cd comes back. (taking into account that you use Scalecomander)
