I feel like the expansion isn’t out yet. The game is incredibly boring since everything that is fun is months away because of Time-gating. I am not sure why the Soulbind Tree has to be Time-gated. It’s the same as talents and leveling your character it’s a core part of your build. We should of been able to unlock Renown 40 in the first week and actually be able to play the game.
Meanwhile I grind the Maw, Torghast and Anima like everyone hoping that at some point I can get enough stats again to where my character feels fun like it did in BFA. You shouldn’t feel so weak for 6 months to start an expansion.
I did unlock sockets today so added some gems but still am drastically low on every stat to actually make a build that is fun. I just have this sad feeling that it’s going to be months before the game opens up and actually is fun. Where we can get enough gear, stats and have everything unlocked and actually enjoy the game. (hopefully 2 legendaries equipped sooner than latter)
I just don’t agree with the philosophy of your character should feel bad to play for months till you unlock everything and get enough gear so then the game is finally fun. I am not sure why Blizzard feels time-gating equals content. I just hope the design philosophy changes.
Changes that are needed
- Let players unlock level 40 Renown in 1 week
- Add Justice/Valor vendors again so players feel rewarded from doing content
- Buff base stats on characters so they don’t feel awful to play out of the gate every expansion.
- Add Soulash to M+ and rare WQ/Raids
Just open up the game and let us play it. I only play this main and just feel like maybe it’s best to uninstall for 6 months till the game is open. Which isn’t how an MMORPG should feel.
The game is enjoyable when you can fully play your character. I don’t mind grinding as I did already do the maw but come on…when does the fun start? For me BiS gear and everything unlocked is when the real game begins. It’s when we can do the content we want and just enjoy the game.
I feel like for every 100 hours played we get to enjoy maybe 2 of them and 98 hours is locked behind time-gated metrics and waiting to play. It just feels bad. Most of the time played is waiting for when everything opens up and you can make a super powerful fun build. Until then we just log in like robots hoping the game becomes fun soon.
Are we really supposed to just log in do weeklys and then log off to enjoy another game? That is where the current design is driving us. Oh well. Not sure why Blizzard is scared of letting us play the game and just have fun.

I wouldn’t say 40 in the first week, first month? Yes, shouldn’t take months to progress through the smallest bit of content, worst part is not only do we take WEEKS to do anything or gain anything…but we also have this progress yanked away as soon as we change a covenant…it’s worse than boring it’s all utterly pointless…

Why did you post logs for LFR?

Seriously. Whoever came up with this idea of constant time gating needs to be fired. It is absolutely awful. Maybe we could tar and feather them as well

Literally none of these are important for character progression in a big way. I have finished my legendary and no longer need Torghast (and the increase between tiers is minimal since the power itself doesn’t upgrade), Maw just rewards some gem sockets at the end, hardly worth a multi-month daily grind. Anima is literally only useful for the weekly renown quest, other than that, ignore it.

You missed the entire point of the post, grats! He wasn’t even complaining about grind, which he’s done. The game isn’t fun right now, and there is no good reason to hold everyone back. He’s right, unsub for 6 months when you might actually be allowed to play. I already have.

I wish renown would have unlocked way faster but everything else you mention is just fine like it is …
I don’t know why but this part… everything else i can somewhat agree! But not this…
He also literally does no content. He does almost no M+, barely doing rated pvp, does no raids. Abomb is a common toxic poster in the arena forums.
How can you complain about nothing to do when you’re willingly choosing to not do content?

I agree that the timegating for renown is a bit much

Does anyone remember that the intent was for Soul Binds and Covenant events to last throughout the entire expansion.
Why do people think everything should be based on convenience? Why do people expect everything to be done in a week? This is an MMORPG, there’s always time-gating, you utter tuna melts.

Yea by adding new npc soulbinds each tier , not by taking an entire tier to unlock the basic 3 fully

Then you weren’t paying attention to the information then. Good job.
Not sure a ripcord is enough to save this expansion.
It needs some major functional changes.

I’ve been playing SL for over a month now.

Or maybe you just came up with it ? Source that the first 3 soulbinds were meant to be unlocked throughout an expansion instead of being used the entire expansion ?

Every beta tester that tested it, you ham sandwich.

You know this game was at its strongest when M+ didn’t exist, rated PvP was in its infancy and raiding was less than 10% of the playerbase. Yet we all still had plenty to do that was only gated by effort and your time to make progress. Now Blizzard actively walls off content arbitrarily to disguise how small this expac is. It’s actually a lobby simulator. When PvP vendors from 10 years ago are your best feature, there’s a problem.

Ah yes they tested the next 3 tiers/seasons too ?
Cause you clearly said this
…and im pretty sure nobody actually knows what soulbinds will be in s2 , 3 and 4 …
So like i said , wonder where you got that info

When they tested all the Soul Binds. Even Preach explicitly stated that all the Soul Binds wouldn’t be available on launch.
But thanks for proving my point.
