When do we get a pirate expansion?

A pirate expansion with our own pirate ships, our own little tropical island, rum, pirate transmogs, parrots, peg legs and lots of booty. No points for trolls mentioning BFA, people want more pirates and their own customisable ships.

As someone who REALLY liked the monkey island games growing up, yes please to pirate ships.

Like, imagine if we actually had a naval combat meta game? Crew that you can arm and armor? SHIP UPGRADES? Assaulting island fortresses?

I’m sold.

As a related aside, I would totally want one of the Iron Horde* battleships, those things are cool af.

Unfortunate how a cool idea can be bogged down by questionable systems or numbers.

BfA was nautical in environment, but not really pirate themed. Pirates existed in pockets, but had little to no impact on the narrative. Beyond some generic “these whippersnappers are causing trouble again” mobs, we got Freehold for pirate story, and that’s kinda it.

Few pirate outfits, 1 pirate area, 1 undead pirate crew in horde area, and a pirate dungeon.

No ship of our own, no crew.
No jacksparrow.

I wouldn’t really call BfA a ‘pirate expansion’ especially considering most of the pirate themed stuff there was relatively extraneous and primarily seen Alliance side. It was certainly the closest we’ve got to that kind of thing, but it’s as much ‘the pirate expansion’ as Legion was ‘the class lore expansion.’

Frankly I’m not entirely sure if it’s even a theme that could carry an entire expansion on its own. Even if it did, it seems like something a lot of folks would get tired of rather quickly if they weren’t already super into it, though much the same could likely be said of many past expansions. Regardless, I’d be down for nearly anything that strays far away from cosmic warfare or explorations of aspects of the setting that were probably better off without expansion.

oh you mean lost ark. ok. well i know blizzard a greedy and don’t really care so you definitely won’t be getting anything like that. its a cosmetic change for the next expansion with some new island to go to and the same 2 months worth of content then its back to the 3 pillars for the next yr and a half.

Bfa Was focused on everything that is war, it does not matter if it was land or sea, Bfa was not a pirate expansion
