When did you join World of Warcraft?

With Classic release right around the corner I’m curious when people started playing.

For me it was back in 2007 about a month into The Burning Crusades. Some friends had be trying to get me to play for all of vanilla but I had no interest at the time. But when I finally did I was in complete awe. It was on the Shattered Hand PvP server and the journey to 70 was one of the most exciting times I’ve had playing a video game and I’ve never experienced anything like it since.

Even though I never was around for vanilla I’m still excited for classic. It may not bring me back and I might not have the same experience I once had. It might not cure this nostalgia because them time are long gone. But one thing is for sure, Classic will bring new experiences, new journeys, new friendships. The game might be the same that it once was, but the experiences we will have will be brand new.

Classis is bringing old experiences, and old journies too…

I played a touch in vanilla but didnt really start playing until the tail end of bc.

Edit: while borderline this should probably be in classic discussion forum as well…

My account was created on December 14, 2010, one week after Cata launched. Kept seeing banner ads for a 10 day free trial of WoW everywhere, and finally broke down and clicked on one. After that, there was no turning back.

And I’m looking forward to enjoying Classic alongside retail.

I wanna say January or February of 2005. Was a few months after it released. My husband was playing on day 1 cause he’s a gamer nerd and has always been like that. He finally let me have a go with it and I wound up using his guest pass to make my own account.

Whenever SWG did the NGE, which I think was about 6 months after launch?

I joined on launch day for vanilla wow years ago. Played till level 50-60 and took a break. Did some BC and WotLK and then I was married and had kids, stopped playing till legion. Played legion for 3 months until my daughter was born and took a break till now!

I started playing in Feb 2005.

I bought the game right at release, but my old PC was so weak it would not load the game LOL.
So I had to save up to buy a new computer. That took a few months.

Random curiosity back during late vanilla/early BC. Lived with my cousin at the time who was playing in vanilla and he loved talking about the crossroads. I started right before BC came out or shortly after. Left right after WOTLK came out(no idea why, but the expansion at the time didn’t interest me) then came back the patch before SoO came out.

January 2007, early in BC. My kid had started playing a couple of months before, but I wasn’t interested. I had never played an MMO before. When I saw the South Park episode, I thought it looked fun. Have never unsubbed since then. I tried one other MMO since and didn’t like it, so this is still my first and only online game.

I sniffed around in bc, but didn’t have a way to subscribe because I was young and mu parents were paranoid about subscription based services.

I officially started playing in 2008ish maybe 2009. It I know I had only JUST hit 80 when 8.3 launched.

I have a long story. I’m originally from a poor country and everyone of my friends played on private servers during BC and so I joined. Then it got shut down and I bounced between a couple more. Then eventually I started in EU in Wrath ICC patch. So I started when LFG was introduced, but I still remember difficulty of getting into dungeon groups from before somewhat.

Excited for classic, because even though I haven’t played it, the period of the game when I started out is closer to that than the current game
