seriously, when and why? it started with oribos being gray, brown, and blue boring
now we have dorn which is a nice city hub but it becomes nauseating looking at the same three colors brown, silver, green.
r we just afraid of the rainbow and the color wheel or what

Wow crosses the street when it sees color coming.

It started way before it.
WoW had a history of picking one color it likes for a patch or expansion and going all in on it.
I couldn’t stand green after legion

It’s called a color palette.

The newest dungeon is literally one of the most colorful and possibly vibrant looking ones i can remember.

Im 30% red green colorblind, which sounds like a lot but its really not. Theres a few shades of red that blend together and a few shade of green that blend together. Otherwise i see normal colors. The only areas i felt were bland the entire span of the game were shadowlands zones. DF and TW i feel are excellent in the zone color orchestration.
I mean the typical wow forum poster.
“Too kiddy, cartoony,” then a month later “oh wait you changed it to kid friendly what’s wrong with you are you afraid of violence?”
Or “bring back war to world of Warcraft,” and also “the horde vs alliance thing is old come up with a new story.”

Yes, let’s go back to the eye-bleed educing color pallet of Quel’Danas.
Oh wait…
Joking aside, I hope it’s not so garrish.
Or, and hear me out here, it’s different people saying all of those things
The playerbase isn’t a hive mind lol[

“When did wow become afraid of color?”
OP then lists half a dozen colors in the game.
Ok then.
Untrue, literally factually untrue. A streamer friend of mine did a test and had a few of us check forum posts of a few online games.
So we would find a post from “gothguy2000,” for example saying “this game is too hard it’s not beginner friendly,” then search his history and find a post from two three months earlier saying “too many noobs in this game.”
Or someone would say “this game is boring everyone is the same,” then six months later that same person called them out for being woke because they had added people of different races.
I could go on just five games and we found over 100 examples in a few days of searching. If we used software or made it a job we could find thousands.
at least the ruby life pools were very pretty. the first section anyway lol

even the most basic scenes are pretty vibrant. How is any of this bland?:

My problem isn’t so much with the colors and more with texture. On my way to some world boss, I stopped to look around and thought everything kinda looks “clay-like.”
I think it’s because the Earthen are very boring

I didn’t play DF so I can’t speak to how good the content was or was not, but the few times I have gone back there and seen the zones the world design is absolutely gorgeous. Anyone complaining about DF’s zones is a nutjob.
Those two statements aren’t really contradictory. He’s saying there are too many bad people in the game in one post. Then he’s saying the game does a poor job of teaching people in his next post. These two statements actually support each other.
There are a lot of bad people in the game because it does a poor job of training good people.
Not seeing how there is a conflict there.

When people complained about Burning Crusade being too colourful (besides Shattrath)
Lots of people like the bland look. They it looks tough or something.
