for me, it was MoP, WoD, and legion.
i mained a hunter in MoP (it was my first character, still got him btw) and loved playing him at the time, i’d join arathi matches, and sit at the first flag, planting a freezing and explosive trap at one bridge, and spam flares at the other… i was’nt level-capped, and did’nt have heirlooms, but i still had a blast putting up a good fight against the other faction!
then in WoD i played a monk, druid, shammy, paladin and of course, my hunter. hunter got a tiny, miniscule less fun without scattershot, but still loved playing him once in a while since he had special ammo then.
i loved playing my monk since he was my boosty-boy, was a little dissappointed the garrisons were’nt themed around our character’s race (he was a pandaren) but still had a blast summoning copies of him, and xuen everywhere!
my druid was always fun too, running around summoning hurricanes, tornados and lighting storms on the battlefield as balance (it did’nt feel like i was doing much, but it was still fun to look at!).
my shaman and paladin though? loved’em both. they felt like prime horde/alliance.
my paladin felt like a balanced pvp machine, stunning foes, bubbling out of danger, but ultimately not really having much in terms of mobility.
my shaman on the other hand felt AMAZING. super top-heavy but squishy, summoning spirit wolves and elementals while setting foes on fire, and lava-lashing it into enemies behind them, before going crazy with stormstrikes, and summoning a searing/magma totem… god i miss those days…
then came legion which… i won’t lie, i did’nt like at the time cause the lore felt excuse-y to me, but looking back, it was a pretty good expansion aside from… well, me no-longer playing most of the characters i liked playing.
hunter did’nt feel right, my abilities became all about my pet, less about working as a team with them.
druid… i can’t even remember what druid was like, i played it so little.
my shaman’s playstyle got butcher and turned into a budget warrior.
my ret pally did’nt actually change much (atleast, to me) but got like, one or two abilities changed (played them quite a bit, but can’t remember the changes).
my monk… well, i started a second monk on alliance and made a bunch of friends over there.
all that negative crap being said, legion was the expansion that simplified classes so much, i began healing… and god DANG was mistweaver monk fun back then, putting a healing ‘leash’ on your tank, and playing the healer equivalent of a dog walker… lots of fun! plus, as i said i made friends back in legion, and we’d hang out, having a grand-ol time, doing raids (mostly lfr), dungeons, gearing up and doin more pvp… overall a great time (aside from how excuse-y i felt nightborne/hm tauren were… we JUST SO HAPPEN to find nelf equivalent of belves, and more tauren cousins?? also all the pillars of creation happen to be on this one continent??).
but then bfa dropped and just… how do i word this… the game lost it’s charm for me. i did’nt quit, i kept playing cause i’m stubborn, but the classes felt flat. they once again, changed how some of them felt (removed mw monk’s ability to move/heal at the same-time with their leash), and just made them not feel appealing. they were’nt horrible, just what was fun was made un-fun. and now with shadowlands… they feel the exact same. not ‘horrible’ but not fun (except enhancement shaman imo). my guess it’s cause mobs take too long to kill, and you don’t feel stronger as you level-up. but that’s just a guess. i wish they’d make the classes feel like they did back when they were at their peak. every single class/spec. but… i dunno.
so to simplify my list:
hunter: MoP/WoD
Monk: MoP/WoD/legion
shaman: WoD (did’nt play a lot in MoP)
paladin: WoD/legion
druid: WoD (did’nt play a lot in MoP)
so, when did the classes you play feel the most fun?
edit: had to rename the thread, i worded it badly.
