When did south park stop being south park

I just re-watched the movie and needless to say it’s like re-watching a season 6 simpsons vs a season 30 episode. I was never a huge SP fan vs other adult animation series like KotH or Simpsons but that made me think ,when the common conscious south park went down hill, last season i watched was with the dutch trolls and that was actually more cringe than most minecraft videos made by children, so i have to imagine to get to this point it went down hill at least a few years ago.

Any show that lasts long enough will die two deaths - the first when it loses its spark, and the second when it’s finally cancelled.

Meh, south park was never funny to me at least. I’ve watched a few seasons on it a while back and it never struck gold with me.

Yeah. Honestly right around the time they stopped killing Kenny every episode.

Still good to me. Never stopped loving it.

And yes I know it’s changed but if it didn’t people would have complained “all they do is kill Kenny for 20 years lolol”

Indeed LOL. Can’t please 'em all.

I just liked it better when it was dirty jokes, jaw-dropping “OMG how did they get away with saying that” kinda stuff, and didn’t weave moral lessons into the last couple minutes.

But, shoot, that was the 90s, when you’d also drop your jaw when Beavis and Butthead said even tamer stuff like “assmunch” (I think I can get away with that here) and got banned for saying “fire, fire, fire.”

South Park evolved. It changed with the times.

There was a time when watching little kids curse and make jokes about the holocaust could get a laugh, but those times aren’t now. Those things have been played out.

Instead you get jokes about how mega corps shame you into giving to charity or how drawing fanart of people is kinda creepy or how ads have invaded every single aspect of our lives. Yeah, it’s bare bones lowest hanging fruit satire, but it still gets a chuckle from me so I’m willing to let it pass.
