When did it become TBC and not just BC?

Seriously here, back when it was current WoW “The Burning Crusade” was always just BC, and has always been BC until BC classic came out. Why is it suddenly being called TBC? Or TBC classic and not BC classic or just BCC?

I don’t know why this bothers me so much, since it’s such a trivial thing, but every time I see it I just cringe.

It says THE burning crusade on the actual box for original TBC. it’s TBC. I have always called it TBC

I swear I’ve never seen it referred to as TBC until recently. And I’m aware of what the full title for it is, I quoted it myself.

I believe it’s similar to the DM/VC argument. It can be used interchangeable, just like chickpeas and garbanzo beans.

Yeah that’s another one that seems like a recently started thing, though I don’t see it as much. before classic came out I don’t think I’ve ever seen it referred to as VC, or TDM, it was always DM.

I’ve seen people using tbc for bc for a long time in fact since tbc. It’s not a new thing. At best it’s new to the circle of people you are seeing likly since it’s comming up in convo more so you are having more reason to say tbc and as such the more common phrasing tbc is taking over as people tend to use what is more commonly used. This is how most languages build up people coin a word or phrase even if there is another for it and the more common way sticks around the other may be used here and there but not often. Bc is like that yes some people used bc for tbc back in the day but tbc has always been the more common form.

I guess my point is that tbc hasn’t been the more common form, and is only becoming the more common form now.

Here is the better question…

Who gives a flying freak?

Call it whatever you want, as long as other people know what you are talking about.

Thank you for your brilliant input.

The thing i’m more concerned with, is originally it was called the burning crusade, and blizzard removed the “the” for classic. Instead of it being The Burning Crusade Classic, it’s Burning Crusade Classic. Strange

I’ve seen people use “wow classic tbc” which definitely seems like a handful.

TBC and DM are the correct usages, though if you want to use BC it doesn’t bother me.

However, anyone who refers to Deadmines as VC deserves to be stabbed in the face.

Then what do you call diremaul? There cant be two DMs. Its VC.

Never.

BC baby

BC is the correct acronym since “the” is usually silent and I remember it being used back when BC was live, pretty sure TBC was a European term that people started using in US for whatever reason, similar to DM/VC which Europeans also worded differently.

No, it’s always been TBC. Maybe you hung out with the short bus back in the day.

Diremaul has 3 different dungeons, so people differentiate them as dm north, dm west, and dm east.
