Sometimes we find different ways of entertaining ourselves in this game. One of those ways is to twink a low-level character. I did that a bit over a year ago, and had this fun little monk that was almost full Warforged at level 10. Then I stopped playing retail and have been playing Classic. I decided to log on and play my monk today. I queued up for some TBC dungeons, and when it was over, I realized my character leveled to 12. I would never have turned on my exp on this character. Did Blizzard reset the exp-off at some point in the last year? There is no exp bar on my character screen right now. It’s like it reset, but the exp bar is not showing.
Does it still have the experience eliminator buff?
As far as I’m aware no, I don’t think they have. I had a low level Warlock character which I purposefully levelled to 70 recently, before then it was safely hard locked at 20.
I feel like a number of things went wonky when Plunderstorm launched (notably chat tab channel setting that had been saved were all reset on every login which persisted for a few weeks. I still see a bad UI that wiggles up and down when I click to contribute to a seed in Emerald Dream; it definitely did not move up/down before Plunderstorm and the chat channel saves breaking at the same time lead me to believe it’s all “shared resources” between the Retail client and re-used stuff for Pluderstorm.
It wouldn’t surprise me if a “No EXP Buff” was stripped off at the same time… they missed a lot of gotchas during any internal testing they did (there was no public PTR for Plunderstorm that I recall).
I went to my other level 10 and found that the exp-off setting reset. I had to turn it back to exp-off. There is no buff.
