When did Alliance start gaining the upper hand in wPvP?

For as long as I can remember it’s always been Horde outnumbering Alliance, what happened?

Alliance having overwhelming racial superiority.

They ruined the horde by giving Sly a redemption arc over having the horde and the Alliance coming together to free Anduin and Kill Sly and the Jailer.
