Why would they close the burning crusade anniversary servers? Who told you they were?
Well they moved all the Era toons from OG release to MOP by now? And without anyone’s consent. They’ve moved original era through every expansion from Classic to MOP at this point?
It stands to reason soon these will become WotLK Anniversary servers, no? And then Cata, etc etc
So youre asking when WotLK servers are being released before SSC/TK are even live, and asking it this way to frame it intentionally in a negative context.

As a retail player, I am wondering if I started playing now if they’d be closing this server by the time I even got to the part that matters.
I more or less just want to try BT because my original experience we only ever got to SSC.
I’m not even remotely aware of what your release or patch phase is or how long it plans to stay online. In my world we are on patch 12.0.7.

You’re asking a poorly articulated question without having any inkling about TBC patch cycles or having done any research at all about it.
The second raid tier is launching in like a week. You have time to level a character and raid for a couple of months before Black Temple releases.
Not sure what you’re talking about with regards to Classic servers “just randomly shutdown”. Partly I think the confusion is due to terminology. AFAIK “Era” servers have never been forcibly pushed to MoP. Era servers are forever vanilla forks from 2021 that never even advanced to TBC the first time around, and now include things like the Hardcore servers.
If you’re talking about the current TBC servers advancing to the next expansion, etc. I don’t think Blizzard’s said anything on the subject, but it seems likely to happen eventually. They don’t communicate anything. They didn’t even communicate when TBC pre-patch was going live until like a month or two before it happened.
All I know is that I had a warrior on the covid-time vanilla era servers and apparently he’s now in MoP? I never green-lit that but okay.
This is what I was referencing. I didn’t want to spend two to three months levelling from level 1, only to get to 70 and find myself on the WOTLK pre-patch and everyone either raid-logging or having given up.
There were windows where you had a choice to:
A: Choose to keep the character on Era
B: Buy a Copy and 1 stays on Era and another continues on.
C: Do nothing and it will auto make your character move on.
What happened here is that you did not select the option during the given time frame.
Oh, damn I was under the assumption that our characters and everything were supposed to stay in vanilla and that it’d be a frozen little time capsule of history that we could visit as we chose. I even got him to 60 and worked on some BIS items and everything.
We don’t know.
Phase 4 (the last phase of TBC Anniversary) will release in “Autumn 2026”. That’s all we know for sure. Most likely, when Phase 4 releases, they’ll tell us what is happening after that; whether we will get TBC Era servers or not.
(There exists a Classic Era server, which is Vanilla forever, but that isn’t the same server that you originally rolled your character on. To access the Classic Era server, pick “World of Warcraft Classic” from the dropdown in the Live - Classic section.)

The Era servers are still alive and kicking. You may not have that particular character, but you can rejoin the community.
I’ll be honest, I levelled a character there to stay there and work on slowly over the years. I don’t feel like levelling another character in a bunch of dead-dead realms. I don’t play WoW for the singleplayer aspects, there are much better single player RPGs.
Anniversary TBC is at Phase 2 but it is on an accelerated timeline. We presume it will go into Wrath. Beyond that, I honestly hope not.
But yes as Drooler said, it sounds like Era vanilla has what you are looking for. Realms are linked so it’s not exactly “dead”
I would not put any hope into these servers turning into WOTLK servers. Blizzard has said nothing about that, and while it’s one of the there options it’s certainly not a conclusion I would make based on Blizzards silence. Ultimately one of three things will happen, the servers will
At this point nobody knows and everything is pure speculation. I suspect we will find out the future at Blizcon, at which point they will also likely detail out the next 1-2 years of Classic similar to how they did when they launched the Anniversary servers. I also suspect some of what occurs will be determined if they want to continue to expend resources to move to WORLK, or just put Anniversary into Maintenance Mode, similar to SOD, and then switch all resources to the next seasonal which could be C+ or some other alternative.
the tbc/wrath question will, probably and hopefully, be answered at blizzcon.

let me rephrase, MBA”s who don’t care about the company they work for. they took the blizzard gig since they moved them to higher levels in the HR process first. they’d be a manager at a fertilizer plant if they called before blizzard did lol. It be a crappy job (pun intended), but one that pays lol.
Our data shows if we leave mystery boxes like this it adds up hype to the con and the future. or some crap like that. My take is that runs the risk of increased apathy. the more who don’t care over time…is less people who cba to even watch this stream on youtube when it comes lol. Hype needs people around to hype up lol.
Honestly man as @Drooler said above, the classic era servers are alive and well, and will probably remain that way for a long time as there are a large part of the playerbase that dont want to see any changes and just want to play in their little time capsule. I’d definitely recommend giving it a crack if classic is what you’re looking for. It does suck that your OG toon is now in MoP though, gg.

There was an option given to players to log into Era or log into TBC Classic (after the great snapshotting). There was also about 6 months or so of an option to purchase a clone.
As far as I know, all the Era servers are still around, without any servers having been shut down.
