When can i unlock regular flying?

Sounds like you need a new profession.

There are accessibility options available to you, look into them. Outside of that, either get some dramamine or find a new game.

sounds like you need to stop trying to find an excuse to defend the cons against dragon riding concept.

didn’t say i couldn’t adjust just incase you try to use that as an excuse either, just aint fun gathering at the start of an expect to kill the boredom of just grinding quests and actually want to explore. im literally sitting on a damn rock waiting for my vigor to regenerate just to hit this node :stuck_out_tongue:

We didn’t get regular flying on the first patch of Shadowlands either, why would we get it here? Blizzard doesn’t like to give players flying mounts.

OP has a very reasonable and sincere question. I would like to know when we can unlock regular flying too. It is not necessary to be a jerk here.

I mean to be fair, this sounds exactly like what I described, wherein full-fledged flying is unlocked through engagement with dragonriding. Which is fine, but anyone hoping to avoid it altogether are likely going to have to do it anyways.

It’s very vague so we don’t really know, but I would be genuinely surprised if Blizzard just allowed you to do regular flying without ever touching dragonriding.

Oh, blizzard loves giving players flying mounts, especially ones you have to pay real money for. They just hate letting you use them to actually fly.

They didnt drop the ball because you cant do something because of your medical condition. That is a you problem that billions of people dont have.

The game is made for the majority. Thats just how life works.

Dragon riding is amazing especially once you get it leveled up.

All I can do is wait and see at this point sadly, dragon riding made me sick on beta so I didn’t purchase DF. If they require dragon racing or something instead of a more typical Pathfinder achievement with quests and reps, I’m out for the entire expansion.

People realize that dragon riding is not supposed to be a substitute for flying right?

There’s no cons that I see. Blizzard gave players flying on-launch instead of a time-gated Pathfinder achievement. If you don’t like it then stay grounded until Pathfinder comes out.

Motion Sickness Settings

  1. Go into you Game Menu (hit ESC).
  2. Make sure you are in the Game tab.
  3. Go down to Accessibility > General.
  4. Toggle the options for Motion Sickness to Keep character centered and Reduce camera motion.
  5. Also might want to check Alternative Full Screen Effects.

Optional Settings
Don’t need to do these, but can really help. These will be trial and error for you, and to tinker with until you find what works.

  1. Go to the System > Graphics.
  2. Decrease Camera FOV (I do about 60/70)
  3. Decrease Graphics Quality (I do about 5)
  4. Decrease View Distance (I do about 4/5)
  5. Decrease Environmental Detail (I do about 3/4)
  6. Decrease Ground Clutter (I do about 3/4)

Other things you can try are Contrast and Brightness levels. I also turn Spell Density down as well.

If I’m being completely honest with you, I don’t see that being the case at all. The quote from the article you linked very much sounds like you gain the ability to regular fly through progression of your dragon riding skills.

I feel like a broken record at this point in saying this, but dragon riding’s progression systems and open world design are tied to exploration and traversal, so adding a feature into the game that overrides this design would feel like Blizzard cannibalizing their own feature. The natural progression to regular flying would be to unlock it after you’ve progressed to a point that having it wouldn’t negate that design. I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Problem is the quests and zones really aren’t designed for a ground mount. I saw the writing on the wall in beta and decided not to bother with this expac at launch because I get motion sick from dragon riding and even if I didn’t, I don’t think the mechanic is fun at all. It’s just a more complicated version of flying and I like original flying to get from point a to b easier so I can have fun with the actual content, not to be a mini game in itself.

that i can agree on. im not saying it’s a bad concept in general im saying it just has cons which it does. like me i dont like it but at least i got flying so i use it. doubt i will ever like it over the expac but it’s w.e. imma still play and use it

This is a fair criticism. Ground mounts are way more insufferable than just dealing with dragon riding. I think people who say this are missing just how intrinsic Dragonflight’s design is to dragon riding.

So, once again is this Blizz saying, "You wanted flying? Well, now you got it. Flying in effen spades, up the wazoo, etc, etc.

- evil laugh -

Be careful what you ask for …

I will say this: so far, DF feels very different from the last 3 expacs.

I’m the opposite. While standard flying would be my first choice, if there was a real choice between DF and a ground mount, I’d use the ground mount. Sadly there isn’t. :frowning:

If that was the case nobody would play any off-meta specs/classes. You can’t simply ignore the fact that fun matters more to a lot of people and every if some chose to use old flying for gathering it’s still a million times more efficient to use DR for actually traveling.

Because deep down inside they don’t really find it that fun?

or

Because they know that systems that players do not embrace tend to be abandoned. Even Torghast or Island Expeditions did not get the level of push back that DR is receiving. That may have something to do with those systems being mostly optional rather than mandatory.

Will find something to do until my sub runs out, they turn on flying, or the 10 to 11 transition event starts. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
