Allow me to preface with: I get folks get ill on the new flying. I hope y’all get something that helps with that. Feeling sick while trying to relax sucks.
Me, on the other hand, Clearly empathetic… But I have no stomach. I do not suffer this particular affliction.
I love the old flying as much as I enjoy the new. Each is great, but man… When you get on an old drake after zipping around on these new sport models… It’s like… swimming in pudding.
Which sounds AWESOME, but the more full you get, the harder it is to swim.
You’re willing to slit your own throat so a corporation of sloppy coders can stop botters in order to bolster the greed of your fellow players, who don’t have anything to buy with gold in the last two expansions anyway except the stuff their fellow greedy players are selling. Enjoy your negative feedback loop of dumb.
Your main argument seems to be that people can fly over enemies thus “trivializing” content. I can do that right now with dragon riding. What’s your point? I have to sit on the ground for a second if I use too much vigor therefore it’s all fine and balanced?
So triggered its quite funny. You resort to accusations of lying and insults because you’re so, so enraged.
There’s no confirmation airswimming will be in Dragonflight and many people are really enjoying dragonriding. Blizzard finally has what it’s been working towards for since it experimented with the Timeless Isle - a way to make the open world more challenging and flight more engaging and there’s nowhere near the mass of people demanding airswimming back that there was in WoD.
But sure I’m the one on copium. Please keep responding, it’s funny.
Airswimming allows you to move in and out of quest zones much more easily and with much less risk of pulling mobs. It allows you to infinitely hover above mobs. For the advantages that flight brings (traversal, speed, protection from NPC challenges) it is too easy and promotes disengagement with the world.
It’s cute that you have to resort to such naive strawmans. Of course it’s not. Learning how to optimise flight so you don’t wait on the ground is the carrot. Not embracing change and learning how to dragonride properly but instead waiting on the ground wishing you had your airswimming back is the stick.
Couple of things: What does disengagement from the world mean? Because I feel plenty of engaged with the world with old flying. I’ve also decided to have a rogue as my main for the express purpose of stealthing past enemies. Why is “Easy” a bad word? What’s wrong with skipping things?
Are you actually interested in having a discussion and hearing other people’s perspectives, or is this conversation completely unproductive?
You’re a liar, so that’s why I called you a liar, Karen.
And, yes, only greedy players worry about botters in open world content.
We have a third-party confirmation of a comment from Ion that flight will come back at some point in Dragonflight.
We have neither first-party or third-party confirmation that dragonriding is going go anywhere beyond Dragonflight. As for Blizzard “building toward” something, dragonriding mechanics don’t even extend to non-dragon flying mounts earned from Dragonflight content, of which there are already at least twice as many as there are base dragon mounts.
Botters are still active in every expansion in the game, including Dragonflight, as are multiboxers. The flight change has not stopped botters. They have just changed tactics to operate without flight at all.
Those are the facts.
Everything else, including your belief about what is best for the game, is something pulled out of your butt.
The one living in his own private version of reality is you, Karen.
The carrot is dumb because I’m on the ground all of the time doing things, because it’s where the activity has always been, which negates the stick because the energy recharges while you’re doing everything else. Dragonriding doesn’t slow me down or make for a more engaging experience.
The stick is not being able to use old mounts at all. The carrot is that some day they will come back.
…I’m on the opposite end in that I’m hoping they’ll recode the entire old world so we can dragonride there.
I just can’t stand regular flying anymore. That said, it would be nice for flight to get implemented in the near future for people that don’t like dragonriding.
On the whole, I don’t want anyone getting the things they find fun taken from them (the exceptions being fun they get at the expense of other players; griefing/trolling behavior). I just don’t want the things I find fun taken away.
Naw, the Garrisons were too easy and way to all-consuming. Maybe something like the Legion Order Halls though.
It took a while but I have gotten used to dragonriding. I actually enjoy it, and in my opinion, gotten pretty good at it. However, I still want access to my other flying mounts that I have farmed for well over a decade and a half. Some go with my toons better. I don’t care if DR circle me an make me eat their dust. I don’t see why anybody would be exclusive DR and push for no traditional flying to be allowed when they are not being forced to use it. On a similar note, how many mounts has Blizzard sold to their customer base that they are essentially forbidding them to use in an entire expansion?
