Assuming it’s a 1v1 and head on fight; your fighting a raid boss.
Basically you need to create enough burst damage to force them into a situation where they dip low enough to hit deathcoil (or just feel like they should use it in general). You have to peel through their defensive CDs and that’s hard.
Are you playing ret or some other class vs Warlocks?
Generally speaking…grenade(s) and shadow reflector are both useful for pressuring Warlocks. I’d recommend Greater Shadow Protection potions as well.
Grenade is especially important against warlocks in a 1v1, especially if your something like Mage and they’re using the right pet.

Just purge their buffs ground the death coil tremor the fears and one shot them with WF if they aren’t specced for SL/SL if not TWO shot them WF!
Roll undead or horde, alliance warlocks are rare because of WotF.
Otherwise, yeah, you need to wait until WotLK for warlocks to be unable to 1v1 somebody who isn’t a warrior/undead/dwarf priest.
Shamans are about the only thing that give me fits as a lock because of purge.
And even against shaman I can get lucky with my pet destroying the tremor when the fear lands.
At least up to level 45, Cleanse only removes one stack of one buff at a time. I’d have to spam it to remove all of the debuffs, which would make my mana go away. Spending time doing so would result in more damage taken instead of given. To top it off, in 2 seconds the warlock would immediately apply all of it again.
It costs almost nothing. You literally cannot oom spamming that.
