When are Pandaren getting a real language?

Now, I know this doesn’t effect everybody, but it does effect my realm a bit.

I play on an RP realm and from time to time, I engage in RP.

Currently, whenever a Pandaren speaks in their own language they say Om Nom Nom over and over again to everyone else listening who isn’t a panda.

Now don’t get me wrong, I found this hilarious, but it sure is off putting when you’re trying to roleplay something fairly serious. It’s getting to the point where I’m really struggling to take Pandaren seriously, it’s ruining the immersion of the game for me and others on my realm.

Does blizzard plan to hotfix this into a proper kind of ‘language’ when the joke goes stale? I thought Pandaren weren’t suppose to be a joke race.

Probably the same time Worgen get a proper language.

The pandaren spoken language, which is actually the Mogu language and should be labelled as such, really needs to be implemented. I get the vibe they ran out of time and went with a joke instead of doing what was planned.

I’ve heard, though I don’t remember where, that their actual language is meant to sound like a fusion of French and Chinese. If so, that’d be really cool to see.

Pandaren also need their own racial name, like the Tauren have Shu’halo and the Night Elves have Kal’dorei. Taking the assumption that the Mogu tongue is a blend of French and Chinese, I’d be partial to Oorsmao as the self-identifier: “Ours” being French for bear and “Mao” being Chinese for cat.

I’m not sure how involved the code that obscures the languages is, though. It’s definitely not a letter-for-letter swap, so maybe they have to build a dictionary for it each time… or at least a phonetic table.

Fun fact :
“mogu” is identical to “nom” in Japanese.

As in :
mogu mogu mogu = nom nom nom

I guess it’s just by coincidence & don’t think it’s intentional, though.
Who knows…

bumping my post

Well, you could start calling Blizzard racist for making fun of the Chinese people, for making a race inspired by Chinese culture that speaks a joke language.
Since people in the west are now allergic of being called racist, I bet things would change pretty fast.
