When are covenants getting fixed?

Has there been any comment about if or when covenants are being fixed? ie balanced?

Right now for some classes there is only one good choice… and if they fix it will there be penalty free way to switch covenant?

Balance is a playerbase created problem. You aren’t doing any content where your convenant pick truly matters at the end of the day.

Probably not soon because blizzard doesn’t like giving us choices.

If it was a player-created problem they wouldn’t have to make design-level changes. Ever.

When 80% of the people playing a class feel the need to choose the same covenant it’s more than a player issue.

People can want to maximize their potential regardless of content difficulty.

There are some abilities that are just unironically bad compared to others. The Kyrian vs Venthyr is night and day. There is no situation where the Kyrian spell does not out perform the Venthyr one. Not only that, the Venthyr abilitiy is on double the cool down for what exactly? The spell hardly does anything even when you push it. This one is way too hard to tune unless it gets reworked because its either going to to do WAY too much damage (see the beta) or its gonna be mediocre (current)

If they did a significant rebalancing now, it also screws over all the people who already took their best power choice.

Either way someone loses.

theres a difference between abilities being within a certain percent of each other and abilities being glaringly better. they should only step in for the latter.

you have people who max out at doing WQs who picked their bis covenant, this isn’t a real conversation.

true. if they want to be bis herb/ore farmers then they have every right to be!

Druids (literally every single spec) 90%+ going Night Fae would like a word

Paladins and 80% kyrian would also love to sit in on the conversation

Not if they buff the weak ones rather than nerfing the strong ones.

Yep. All the folks who chose for power over aesthetics end up salty that now the one they wanted actually works for their power concern. And that’s a pretty big crowd.

Not a great example, since anyone picking their covenant for aesthetics or RP or personal taste is probably also going with those covenants for those classes, since it’s kind of the obvious choice.

But there’s literally no fixing that. Even if they balance it mathmatically perfectly there’s always going to be one that pulls ahead by the barest fraction of a percentage, and Icy Veins will publish it and all the sheep will do exactly what it says and we’ll be in the same situation.

People that feel like they have to have the best min/maxing for trivial content is a player made problem, not a Blizzard made one.

80% huh, where’d you pull this percentage from there hero?

Aside from Necrolord most covenants are simming less than 5% dps between each other. Necrolord is still a top choice for a couple of specs but it’s mostly bottom tier for all others; their soulbinds need a buff imo.
Balancing them is pointless, high end players will still pick the absolute best choice even if it’s a 1% dps gain and then everyone else will follow them; you break this meta and a new one will form, it is inevitable.

There are data mines that show the percentages for specs. There aren’t too many over 80% but there are few like Hpal and Rdruids.

If they got it close there would be less of a difference though. Sure some people would take the .5% but that’s okay too.

What a kind thoughtful response. I am sure it was appreciated by all. I know I was impressed.

With that being said, balance issues are prevalent throughout the systems and have been since pretty much day one regardless of what content one is doing… so your statement is also inaccurate.
