Whelpling's Dreaming Crest limit?

Whelpling Crests seem to have an issue imo - I capped out on Whelplings just by doing a handful of MSQ and Emerald Blooms etc, yet i can continue to over-cap my Drake Crests, why?

If i was playing on my Hunter, i’d likely not need any Whelplings since ive got near maxed out S2 gear and would likely go into S3 Normal raid right out the gate, but on an Alt, i would need the Whelplings to be able to ‘catch up’ to the 441-esque ilvl, but Blizzard prevents me from doing so by capping the early crests… where is the sense in that?

Bit of a flaw in the design imo since if you arent continuing to play on your highest ilvl character, then you’ll continue to be ‘behind’ by playing an undergeared Alt.

Ya I wondered at that I have reached my 90 already. Does this mean it resets at or on Tuesdays or am I done now :frowning:

Do the Dreamsurge weekly for 10-15, plus some other randoms you get flying through the green balls.
Fyrakk assault quests also give 4 each; most of them.
Random WQ in original zones award some too.

Unfortunately I don’t think Caverns has any boxes to buy from the coins or whatever.

What?
When was this stated ever? They never said it was an acnt-wide limit?
That would make absolutely no sense if it was 90 crests week/13 or however many classes there are people play.

It was never stated and it’s not an account wide thing. Never has been

Well as of right now I cant get anymore from looting anything since I hit 90. Only way ive gotten more is from doing 1 quest in the emerald dream which granted me 5 as a reward but looting any never go into your currency tab.

I know they will increase it but cmon the fact that it was changed to this and not left as it was is a bit odd. Outside of slowing us down I don’t see any other reason for this. Limit the tiers above the base garbage crests not the base itself that would of worked better and I would not be here along with the OP.

Yes, that’s right…90 is the cap this week (apart from quest items that say “ignores limit”).
So why are you trying to tell us 90 is the limit for all our alts? That is not the case.
Have you actually tried to farm 90 more on an alt?

I have 84 whelp crests and only 77 drake crests (I haven’t done any upgrades except first one). I didn’t even do the campaign. I have no idea how you could miss getting whelp crests if you are looting chests, killing rares and doing the quests. I have no real idea what they come from but you usually do everything and I skip lots…

Whelpling’s Dreaming Crests Regular and world quests, Amirdrassil on the Raid Finder difficulty, and Mythic+ dungeons up to level +5

Drake’s Dreaming Crests Elite quests, Amirdrassil on the Normal difficulty, and Mythic+ dungeons from level +6 to +10

Actually if you want the Whelping Crests just go do the world quests in the Zaralek Caverns. I have been getting 4 for each quests I have done. If you don’t get them there then blizzard is giving them based on ilvl maybe - this character is ilvl 425 I am getting them on.

Also Drake Crests can be obtained from the Brimming Supply Packs from the original factions - got 4 from completing the extra rep quest.

Apologies if this is slightly off-topic, but does anyone else feel like having the cap for whelping crests in particular feels unnecessary?

I capped out on whelpling crests really fast as I had a lot of content to catch up on. I just started progressing through Zaralek cavern and while I can still get some crests from quests, all the treasure chests I find give me a ton of crests that I don’t actually receive. Now I’m choosing not to loot chests I discover, which is definitely requiring some serious self-restraint.

Meanwhile, I have a ton of Drake’s crests that I can’t use until my gear is upgraded up through whelpling. It’s a little frustrating.

Yeah the Developer who wanted that was a Panda main for sure

The crests you receive go into your currency tab and of course, looting the random chests still grants the other items even if you ‘lose’ out on potential flightstones/crests if you were already at the caps.

That said, if you need something to spend crests on, doing the Fyrakk assault (the big guy that spawns drops an Adventurer piece, the chest might also but I haven’t tried yet). Then the Dreamsurge and Time Rift weeklies both give a token to pick a piece of adventurer gear of your choice which can be upgraded to 450 (and turned into Aberrus tier though only catalyze after maxing upgrades).

You’d also get 1~2 Veteran pieces from the Emerald Dream which would be able to eat up all of your Drake crests.

Just what I assumed. Now I know its 90 cap per alt not for all alts.Since I just hopped on another toon to get this stuff sorted and noticed it. I did however not see this on my prior 3 I just saw them all have 90/90 besides the ones I got from questing. IDK its a confusing way to do this system as a whole.Would of preferred them sticking to the old crest system and just make the old ones grey. Oh well If I did incite confusion that was not intentional just me being a clueless person, Sorry.

You get 10 for doing a timerift (probably once per week), 10 for doing the weekly Dreamsurge quest, 4 for doing the weekly Community Feast, and 2 for doing the elite world quest (Fields of Ferocity), and I would imagine that weekly Dragonbane Keep and Hunt caches would give you 4 as well.

You can farm more in the current Dreamsurge zone by flying through the green sparks and looting the purply flowers, and targeting world quests that award the green “Whispers” items.

How are people getting so many Drake Crests?!

The campaign, every side quest, and an absolutely insane amount of Emerald Bounties/Super blooms and rares.

Oh, yeah, I stopped at five blooms for the weekly rep bonus. And rares are usually not up and take too long to kill.

As bad as Zaralek Caverns were, at least you could just do your Researchers Under Fire once and be done with the timed events.

Which rares? I’ve been soloing most of them on my Monk and on my Warlock and Pally alts. There are like 3 that require maybe 3 people in the Dream. The biggest issue ive heard is that rares are dying too fast and people trying to get the druid forms or whatever can’t get to them in time.

Sorry, forgot the names, but for a couple of them you have to do gimmicky things to get them to even spawn, such as collecting ingredients for a picnic. Then when they do spawn, they are total damage sponges.

Maybe I should try killing more. But the last time I enjoyed killing rares was in Zereth Mortis, for contribution to weekly objectives and progression currencies.

Yeah, the event rares are the 3 I was thinking of. Winter Envoy, the giant fish creature, and Last Breath of Raszageth all need a couple people to do. Most of the other rares are pretty straight forward to do.

They don’t. I checked :-/
