These are horrendous mini games. I love dragon racing, please just make them like normal races instead of all this time wasted zooming into walls, disconnecting, face planting into mountains when I’m aiming upwards, etc. When blink doesn’t disconnect me, it’s throwing me in random directions. What a massive waste of time.
Editing to add: yes I watched a video, and it is still too painful to keep trying this in this state. I have disliked them all prior to the one that disconnects you, so this is just my breaking point.

I admit, I’m not a fan either. I do feel the skills do what they say they do, but some of them I down right hate. And yes, there are some disconnection issues. I’ve been lucky and only dc’d once, but it hit my guildy repeatedly. I’ve done each at least once. Won’t do them again.
Kudos for the idea. Was nice to see something different and unique! This one just doesn’t do it for me.

I agree, it is a fun idea in theory! I am typically not a hater in general and like most things other people dislike haha. But this is definitely one of those I don’t feel compelled to push through unless it’s improved in some way. It makes me feel like I’m playing an old school nintendo or sega genesis game where you have to keep starting over repeatedly. I really would like the toy and pet, so it’s frustrating. I don’t even care about getting a gold finish time, I also just want to complete them once and never again.

I have a video I watched to learn them, did them all once to get achieve and rewards and won’t again. I’ve been mostly ambivalent about vehicle quests since they released in Wrath but this one is really just out there.

What races? Do you mean the daily flying as a whelp thing in DF? If so, I HATE that quest with a passion and won’t do it.

Especially sad as lot of us got into pets as our preferred time sink as an alternative to those sorts of quests.

Just noticed that “Daycare Derby” thankfully only involves participation in the race, but the “Whelp There it Is” achievement requires completion.
I just need three races to get Axel.
The first time I did one of these races, my evoker was transformed by deviate fish so I was a human ninja flying through the rings and I thought it was the weirdest quest I’ve ever done. If only that was my sole problem with these quests lol.

Zaleth on the Go (the blink race) is up today and I decided to try it with the intent I would quit immediately if I DCed or had to restart it. I managed to complete the race in one shot without hitting blink very often, and when I did, it didn’t DC me. It still seems to shoot you off into random directions, which is the second reason I disliked the race. But if you’ve been avoiding it for the same reasons I have, maybe give it one more go. It’s possible they changed the acceleration on the other spells or I was too frustrated to keep going to notice before. I got bronze and credit for the achievement and that’s all I wanted.
Edit: I’m seeing people still making bug reports today about disconnects, so maybe I was just lucky. I felt like I was able to do more without using blink this time, though.
One of the things I remember from the video I watched was using blink to close to the rings caused the DC, not sure how entirely accurate that is, but may be worth checking.

Thanks, I think I saw that video, too! Even when I tried that strat last time I still disconnected a lot. The mechanics felt different this time, but maybe the few times I used blink were closer to rings or the handful of rings that don’t cause the disconnects. One other thing I did this time was avoiding the wind lifts on the course. Somehow, it was possible! It doesn’t make them any better, but maybe there’s hope for those who are missing the achievement.
