Whatsup with Battle pets?

Hello,

Are battle pets at all popular? Does this element of the game receive updates? Do you see it getting de-implemented anytime soon?

It’s totally not my thing but I finally found something in WoW my girlfriend wants to try. Shes a Poke maniac and I told her about battle pets and she’s really excited to try it out.

We get new battle pets and npcs to battle pets with every expansion but beyond that it ends there. You can PVP with other players if you want and make it like pokemon.

Okay cool… that should be good enough.

Battle pets are cute, but dont let her get her hopes too high. They are not really at all like Pokemon.
It can be fun, but they are very very different things.

I would start out slowly and build up your stable first…you’ll need a good line up of pets to battle pet tamers around the zones…as for PVP its very hit and miss there now waiting on someone to battle and most times you’ll end up with a high seasoned player with top pets that will wipe you over and over.

Get Rematch to form teams up for your pet tamers…
Xu-Fu is best site for go too set ups for teams to battle with…https://www.wow-petguide.com/.

Warcraftpets.com is another site you can view all the known pets in the game with there stats and where to find many of them…

The Forums here Pet Battler section you can ask all kinds of questions and get help there too…its better to post there for pet questions.

I don’t thiiiink they’re super popular in the pvp section

But every xpac has had a ton more pets/trainers added

There’s even dungeons you can do with just your pets

but dont let her get her hopes too high.

haha I think your over estimating my gfs interests. Can you collect’em all? Can you battle other pets? Say no more. She’s not the max out EV/IV type.

There’s even dungeons you can do with just your pets

thats so cool wow.

Big thank you on this any all the info you provided!

The Whelp Daycare questline in Valdrakken is adding some more fun and flavor to battle pets as well. May be worth checking out if she gets to level 60ish.

Highly recommend warcraftpets.com.

You can import your pet list, compare with others, create a checklist and other things.

There are also a few pet battle dungeon challenges to do that reward special pets too.

Battle pets are a waste of time for both the developers and players.

When it comes to offering various ways to level characters, surely more options is a good thing?

If it’s a good thing, then it’s not a waste of time.

I’m sure there are lots of aspects of the game you don’t participate in.
That doesn’t mean other people don’t enjoy those activities.

Thankfully, the game doesn’t revolve around you.

Battle pets are awesome. I’m not that good but you will find it’s more about strategy than over powering. Since everything is capped at 25 it means all old content is still very much content to do, that means challenges put in over the course of like 11 years are there to entertain you! Or just collect all the cute friends like I do. c:

…I still can’t beat the August Celestial tournament, like the first big challenge they put in… ,_,

I don’t see a real purpose in it no, you don’t get like transmogs from doing it or much of anything really… if you’re really desperate to go outside of the system it can be a way to level up I suppose.

There’s really not much else to it other than just collecting them, leveling them on your own time, maybe battling other players on the rare occurrence and that’s pretty much it. As for me? I don’t mind collecting them when I want some down time, additionally I’ve made a lot of gold selling pets on the AH.

Suppose they’re basically just a fun little toy feature.

I’m nearing 1000 battle pets but I think there’s probably close to 2000 at this point.

The safari achievements for collecting open world pets in every zone are a pretty good time.

Definitely show them warcraftpets.com its the best resource for battle pets.

I don’t really do the pvp pet battles or the battle pet dungeons but I hear they are pretty cool. I’m mostly just a collector myself.

One thing to keep in mind for a potential pet collector: While there are hundreds of pets that can be captured throughout the world, if you are a “Gotta collect them all” pet collector you will eventually be forced into almost every other aspect of the game. There are pets that can only be collected by raiding, by completing achievements, from dungeons, by pet battling, by playing specific classes, by pvp’ing and by doing solo content. And while some of these pets can be traded, there are many that cannot.

No. Far to much time effort and real world money invested by the player base to simply end this type of content.

They also add new WQ’s with each patch. And on occasion we’ve seen battle pet dungeons, although its been awhile.

There are a couple of addons that are great for helping.

I didn’t see battle pet completionist listed and that is a great one as well.

Xu-fu itself is a great site as well.

Personally I’m very apathetic toward battle pets but some people really love them. For an old friend of mine it was litterally what he was excited most about with each new expansion drop, checking out the new pets…

I think having a varied menu of content to suit a large variety of people helps keep the game populated and profitable.

Catering to only one or two crowds would ironically in the end lead to even less resources for those crowds when the company has to downsize the team to make up for profit loss.

That’s actually what I’m doing this morning.

Pet battles have more significance now that they are one of the monthly activities for the Trading Post.

Plus some of those pets are just so darn cute!!
