Yeah, why is it only PvPers that get recognition for their achievements (in the form of exclusive titles/transmog/mounts etc) instead of having them handed out to everybody later?
It’s not some deeply rooted gameplay feature of MMO’s at all.
I dont care about classic people. That doesnt stop me from seeing through their tantrums and askign for things for reason they dont even support so dont even try to include me and “well everyone is bad”. No.
Go watch the mop streams and come back please
I was legitimately looking forward to playing Legion Remix because of the chance to finally get my hands on the Mage Tower appearances. I wasn’t at a place in my life when Legion came out to get them, but now I am.
I’m honestly not sure what reason I would have to play Legion Remix at this point. Hunting down old transmogs and mounts was what made Pandaria Remix have any longevity.
At this point, whose “I was there” mentality are we even still protecting?? Legitimately, how many people are left who have these original appearances and are still subscribed? We are all older, many have quit for other games, no longer have time to play, or frankly probably died at this point. If this game is to survive, we should be bringing more people in and trying to attract new people, NOT appeasing people who for the most part don’t even play anymore.
Did the sky fall when they brought back the Deathwing mount for the anniversary? or the TCG mounts that had been nearly unobtainable for many years?
Why is everyone so obsessed with this idea of “prestige”?
The only thing that really matters is how you perform in whatever group you’re currently in.
Your reputation will speak for itself.
I’ve never looked at anyone’s anything and immediately thought okay that’s a good player.
Besides maybe certain titles, and even those can be sold.
Only things prestigious about PvP are glad mounts and rank 1 titles.
I think elite sets and old illusions should be things you can purchase once you earn a current rating that corresponds to whatever the item in question required when it was current. That would add so much grind-ability to the playlists. Turn saddles into tokens you can redeem for any legacy mount, gear, or illusion once you earn the proper rating.
People dont play PvP much any more and the majority that do just play until they unlock their current elite set/illusion/vicious mount. Then they quit until next season. This massively deflates the playlists.
A saddle takes 15-30hr to grind.
There are 310+ elite sets and 14 illusions.
Not to mention capes and tabards…
If you added just the sets and illusions, you just made available 4500-8k hours of things to grind.
But people will cry about their middling “achievement” being “given” away.
Population numbers will continue to dwindle season to season, snowballing further by people trying pvp and their poo pushed in and discouraged because its only really the several hundred glad level players still actively playing the playlists
Just my 2 cents
While I can get behind leaving seasonal PVP rewards unavailable, the mage tower artifact appearances should definitely return.
The mage tower challenges were considered “skill-intensive” around the time they became available, with the tomb of sargeras raid gear almost immediately taking their difficulty down a peg, and subsequently the netherlight crucible and antorus gear completely obliterating it for most specs.
Not to mention some bugs which persisted for a little too long, like the ret paladin repentance and guardian druid rake exploits. The players who abused these exploits were allowed to keep their rewards, and no one felt exactly disparaged largely because the community sentiment was that the mage tower wasn’t particularly challenging anymore at that point.
The biggest barriers to completing these challenges then were: actually gearing (somewhat) multiple characters, and in specific cases, also having the required legendaries to be able to complete them, effectively nothing to do with player skill per se.
Bringing back those rewards would be a huge draw to the event as it would allow people like me, who didn’t play the game for 16 hours a day back then, to come back and collect the remaining mage tower appearances we couldn’t get at the time.
If the team is worried that the insane power gains of the event would make them too easy, then I have good news: you’ve already solved this. The character’s item level and whatever equivalent we get to the timerunner’s advantage buff just need to be capped while inside the mage tower instances.
It’s funny to me that the pandaria challenge mode gear sets were also not brought back for whatever you consider is “skill-intensive”, and yet I clearly remember it being more of a time investment than anything.
Also I’m still waiting on that red recolor of the paladin challenge set btw. Hopefully it won’t take another 13 years.
I mean, there is nothing wrong with “prestige”, but with how it is thrown around, it seems to be put onto everything that doesn’t make sense.
Like, I look at stuff like, obtaining 3k score in M+ for the season and getting that reward is prestige. Or getting the top percent achievement for the gladiators mounts as prestige. Basically, seasonal items if you know what I mean.
People on the forums throw everything as “prestige” basically.
Bring back artifact weapons even if its a set ilvl build etc in order to keep the challenge.
Exactly why I didn’t include gladiator mounts or titles to my proposed “vicious token” solution.
Certain things are hard to legitimately achieve.
Being a gladiator or cutting edge or 3k in M+
Seasonal things at the highest difficulty level deserve to be discontinued and rare.
There’s been a bizarre conflation of the word prestigious though.
Elite sets are not hard to get.
Mage tower in it’s original form wasn’t even seasonal, it was there until it was free then removed…
When you start calling things prestigious arbitrarily you start getting people with these toxic inflated egos and this gatekeeping behavior.
Exactly
Add it back to retail
Add some recolors to grab for fun in remix, because it’ll be a joke with the way toons are scaled in remix
One of my friends and I were talking about all this (I share bits of the thread with him because he can’t be bothered to actually participate in the forums. The wiser one of us he is). But he remarked upon Challenge Mode being considered skill intensive now as a joke because it was bought and sold just as much as AotC has been since its inception - and besides, it was ‘just proto-keys.’ He said the hardest part about it - which turns out to be the hardest part of most content - was finding a group for it (unless you bought it).
It’s fine if we might lose you as a player. In the end, this is for the majority and the good of the game and not just you. Do you understand this?
The game would be in a better place with everyone can getting them.
The number of players that “quit” because the game has lost “integrity” will be offset 100 fold by the number of players something like bringing back OG MT skins would bring back.
They are dumb if they don’t add them back
Artificial scarcity.
The only reason those items are seen as disproportionately valuable is because they cannot be obtained by arbitrary reasons.
Supply and demand. If value equals demand divided by supply and the supply tends to zero, then value tends to infinity.
So if those arbitrary reasons are gone, the items will no longer be disproportionately valuable and those people will feel that their collections lost value.
The obvious solution to that is to stop treating WoW as a capitalism simulation and treat it as a fantasy roleplay game where ideally the more options we have the better because then we can let creativity flow and play anything we want.
The heaviest emphasis on that last part.
Holy cow, a second page?!
But why are they stuck together…?
I get it, but it’s definitely not good for the game.
More options are almost always good thing in an mmorpg.
The only thing I’m hesitant toward in that regard is race/class restrictions.
Expand options only when they make sense within the established story.
Not only that, but make the given visuals fit what they’re adding. They’ve made ample opportunity to add nelf paladins (and shaman tbh) to the game, but if they can only wield Light effects and get no options to moon-ify their visuals I will claw the walls of Blizz HQ down
Getting any CE is more prestige than MT, yet CE mounts are still in the game. CE is more similar to glad CE get’s easier as the tier progress and I saw glads with negative winrate sitting on the current mount wich is really funny.
So Im well over 3k and I have CE, I would say 3k is kinda easy (this tier it is a joke really) and this CE is pretty easy aswell but magnitudes harder than 3k. I cant really say anything about glad but I saw people with negative winrates with glad mounts, it’s more of a grind. Getting ANY 0.1% title and HoF is really impressive tho, those are really hard to obtain. If CE mounts stay in the game glad mounts should stay as well. The best solution is keeping titles and achievement exclusive that way there is no weird cherry picking, there are hard to get mounts and sets and there are easy to get stuff.
I don’t think so.
Apparently Blizzard is afraid of losing players like me, otherwise the MT appearance would return in lemix.
Keep promises and keep thing exclusive for loyal players are good for company and for the game as well.
I miss the old priest racial distinctions.
Made the classes feel less cookie cutter
I will play just for the spellwing. Also note they didn’t say we couldn’t get the druid forms from the mage tower.
