What's your main class and why?

Simple question. Also, if you changed your main class during the time you’ve been playing WoW, why?

I main a Paladin (more actually) because way back when I played D&D I always wanted to play a Paladin, but was never able to because one of my co-players was always either an Assasin or a Druid and the alignment system did not allow a Paladin to play with non-Good alignment co-plyers.
I have alternately mained a Hunter, back in old Vanilla to Wrath because I liked the intricacies of taming, feeding, bonding with, and so on of my pet.

My first character was a Warlock. My friend who introduced me to the game said I would like it. It was okay.

Then I made a rogue… and fell in love. The Warlock has collected dust ever since. I like the dps and the ability to sneak around. CC was good and the ability to disappear when needed. It just ‘feels’ natural to play it, more so than any other class I have tried.

Honorable mentions: I enjoyed the Monk class A LOT more than I ever thought I would when MOP came out. It WAS a close second. (WAS? I don’t play retail anymore). The Warrior class was very fun too, especially tanking for a group of friends and dictating the pace of play for the group.

Playing a Hunter was decent, especially when playing solo.

Paladin was so-so depending on the expansion.

I never could get into the DK.

Priest and Mage were okay. I don’t like casters much.

I don’t recall playing any other classes for a long time, off the top of my head.

Mage.

For 12 years I was a paladin main since end of wrath phase 4 and I regret every damn year I spent on that stupid forsaken class and specs…

Blizzard was 10 years too late for any good changes that came in dragonflight season 2 for ret paly and even prot at a time. Holy had good spikes in MoP and shadowlands but the rest was meh.

Mage in general was always a no for me in any MMO due to the fact I like melee and plate classes or just play hunters/rangers. But now, I guess you could say my mind has been expanded to the idea that mage in not only WoW but every mage class in other MMO’s has alot more to offer than the basic white hits of a warrior or golden poop dust of a paladin.(this goes for everquest as well those idiots, if you know you know)

  • Free food/water
  • Lazy portals(hearth freedom)
  • No fall damage
  • Decent/good damage profile and damage overall
  • Excellent solo experience
  • No heavy gear reliance(warlocks smh)
  • Makes melee classes a joke in PvP
  • Clean visuals

Note I am not listing solo farming dungeons because screw that crap… I dont wanna spend 15 minutes pulling mara to die because the game decides to lag cause SoD is stealing ERA’s bandwidth -_-

My first character was a warlock as well, blood elf. Made a rogue later but always chose warlock. Made a DH in Legion and made it one of my main classes, but warlock is the only class I’ve played consistently in every expansion.

I did briefly play a DH. It was fun, but short lived. Great animations, IIRC.

I don’t know why, but this made me laugh! Thank you!

rogue for wpvp. stealth is too convenient for picking fights. and it’s almost impossible to be camped back.

One of the absolute truths in WoW. The only class able to get them is DH and even DHs have a hard time (if you play Frost).

Which is why I mained frost for season 2 in dragonflight

My first Character was a Druid that I started in late 2004.

I switched servers and started this char in March 2005, and have had a Warlock as a main ever since. At one point during WoD I had at least 6 warlocks (different servers/factions) at max level.

I like having at least some healing capability along with the ranged DPS.

And many horrible class sets…

Ive dabbled in all classes at a basic lvl but the classes i “main” are Shaman/Spriest/Druid (and monk in retail if i played that version)

I’ve mained Shaman particularly Enhancement since I started and haven’t been swayed too much to switch I think SV hunter is my next favorite class I’ve played but it’s a little too simple in comparison so I always end up going back to enhance.

I chose shaman when I first started playing because the idea of being a shaman just seemed really cool as I always loved nature and tribal/primitive aesthetics and it was never a class type I had seen in other games before so it just appealed to me right away.

I started out trying a paladin and a warrior, and I stuck with warrior because it felt more fun and dynamic in combat.

I love the charge/intercept abilities, and I really like the stances and weapon-swapping in Vanilla. There’s a sense of momentum to the class that I find really engaging. I think when I used Charge for the first time, I knew that this was my main.

I think that with warrior, you really feel the impact of your gear in a different way than most classes. Arms links up with the blademaster/samurai fantasy, which I was always a sucker for. I like all three warrior specs in Vanilla, though.

Paladin I ended up playing just as a healer, but I do like spamming flash heals and buffing people.

Hunter is a really fun class, too, and I like all of the crafty stuff you can do. With the tracking and beast-taming abilities, hunters have a really unique relationship with the overworld. I think hunter goes with my aloof IRL personality a little bit better, but sometimes the joy in playing RPG’s is the chance to be a different kind of character than you are IRL.

Mage is my second class in Classic. It’s a perfect warrior alt because it’s like night and day after playing warrior heavily. The QoL, AOE grinding, and seeing the XP gain from a big pack of mobs is intoxicating. I intended to level mage first in Classic for gold and utility, but I just couldn’t stop playing my warrior.
