Whats your ideal raid size?

Back when 10 mans were introduced I thought they were the greatest things ever. The raids were much more chill than 25 mans, and more guilds could set one up without needing to merge. Even with variable raid sizes now I still feel like that. It takes a certain personality to manage a guild and raid with a large number of members, and thats the personality I usually don’t mesh with. I’m more of a live and let live kinda guy.

So I enjoy the smaller laid back raids, where people can BS, and chat etc. That becomes harder and harder once you start getting larger amounts of people in the raid. But I also understand the appeal of wanting to get a large army of people together to smash things.

So I as you friends on the wow forums… What is your preferred raid size?

10 and 40

10 and 20, 20+ should be for pvp purposes only

Walks into a raid, alone
Yup.
Looks around
This. This is enough.

10 man Heroic Raiding was the best time i had with raiding. My guild back then felt like a very tight knit group. I still speak to my RL from back then and our Main Tank.

10!!! Ten-man raids are just so much more fun. You feel like you are there with some close friends. Also, when you have to have a fixed number of people, members are more likely to show up because they know other people are counting on them to be there. Now, people just assume we will still have enough people, or that we can just pug a replacement. It’s not the same.

i havnt experienced wow 40 mans, i had that in everquest a lot though.

im kinda glad were doing 20mans now usually. its hard to keep 40 reliable people over the weeks/months. If you do have 40 reliable ppl never missing, then you can always have 2 teams.

I like 20.

Just saying

People prefer 10 because they are significantly easier. 10 man raiding has a place, things like kara or ZG.

The tier raid, BT, ICC, or Nylotha should be 20 or 25.

Don’t tell me why I like something. And I don’t agree that they are “significantly easier.” That doesn’t even make sense. In fact, 15-20 seems to usually be the ideal number in today’s normal and heroic raids.

Yea 10-20 sounds cool

I prefer 25 tbh. I love seeing a huge group of people taking down a big bad. Feels epic.

40, 20 feral cats and 10 hunters with cat pets.

I used to think raids were too big to be top level content, but with the advent of M+, that problem has been solved.

Actually playing in them, 10 mans don’t feel like real raids to me. They feel more like an overgrown group, or a group of people who want to zerg what ought to be 5 man content. In particular, healing in a 10 man group doesn’t feel like healing in an actual raid.

2-3-9, 14 people, starts to feel like a raid. However, you can’t split this group in half without having to split the healers 2 and 1, which is unbalanced.

20 people is better; it can be split 2 ways or 4 ways. 24 is divisible even more ways.

Add one for the raid leader, and I think 25 is a good number. 30 might be best of all - splittable evenly any number of ways up to 6. 40 was fun, but was sometimes unmanageable.

Tbf it is easier to find 10 competent players than it is to find 20. But that argument is the same reason why LFR Nzoth is harder than Heroic. I personally don’t think difficulty should start at the recruitment stage.
