What's your favorite zone artwork in the game?

Weird question, I know. I was just running through Eversong Woods to finish out my exploration acheesement (I know, I’m a glutton for punishment, I do this on every single one of my characters) and I was thinking, “WOW, this is a gorgeous zone! It’s one of my favorites.”

Here are my favorites, in no particular order (like I could choose!):

  • Eversong Woods, with its warm golden palette. I do wish they would update it with current graphics, but leave the zone just as it is otherwise
  • Drustvar. Surprising, right? But for me, it is by far one of the creepiest zones in the game and reminds me of any number of horror movies or books about haunted woods. I love it.
  • Grizzly Hills. The music alone is breathtaking.

So I had to wonder, what are yours?

My two big ones are Grizzly Hills and Storm Peaks  Truly amazing zones, and the Grizzly Hills music is the best in the game.

But Ardenweald looks beautiful in everything I see so far in Shadowlands so if it’s as good as it looks then it’ll easily be one of my favorite zones.

I’m one of those people who loved Vashj’ir. I wish we could have another zone like it, but too many people disliked it.

Sholazar Basin is also one my favorite zones. The questlines were okay, but the music was really relaxing. I’m immediately calm whenever I fly through that zone.

Storm Peaks - Ulduar music is my favorite music in the game. There’s a nostalgic feeling to it, and I love every minute of it.

Strange as it may be, Icecrown is probably my favorite zone in terms of art style.

Edit -
I forgot about Shadowmoon Valley, in BC. This definitely top 5 for me. The quests were fun, getting the mount was fun (although it took forever), and the music was top notch for the vibe the zone was giving off. Also, just across from Black Temple to the west, is the Warden’s Cage. If you go down inside it (you had to for a quest), it has its own unique music. One of my personal favorites in the entire game.

Something about the snowy zones are so enticing to me, Winterspring is a favorite.

Valley of the four winds and zones with big open plains like that are always amazing as well.

The only two zones that I made a point to level in back in the day was Darkshore and Ashenvale. I know they were inefficient zones to level in but I didn’t care - I loved the aesthetics and the lore.

Now, I’m not so sure. Of all the new zones, I probably like Zuldazar the most.

Drustvar. Bring me more creepy horror zones.
Nagrand bc zone and WoD nagrand. Just something about it hits right.

I have a number of them -

Jade Forest - just something relaxing about it.
Drustvar - it’s almost straight out of the British horror flicks I used to watch from the late 60s/early 70s.
Vash’jr - I loved the entire underwater theme even with the mountains of LoS issues.
Old Desolace - the coastline had amazing sunsets.

There are too many zones to count. I can tell you I don’t like anything felgreen ugly like Shadowmoon or blah like desolace.

The art team has been phenomenal even in other Blizz franchises. I just wish my computer were not a toaster.

So many good answers! Add me to the Vashj’ir fandom, too. It’s gorgeous.

I do picture my characters retiring in Grizzly Hills or on their Pandaria farm someday.

Must be a Gnome thing. I liked that zone. Most people avoided it.

Tanaris. Yellow deserts are the best.
