Would love to hear everyone’s reasons for their favorite race
Mine would have to be Tauren.
Reason: Because when Thrall crossed the sea to Durotar with his small clan during the Reign of Chaos, he met Cairne Bloodhoof and his fellow Tauren. They greeted Thrall with nothing but kindness and never once made a comment about their skin color or appearance - except for the humans, referring them to pig skins lol. The respect was real and dignified with not a single trace of animosity at all. The Tauren were on the brink of extinction due to the Centaur invading their homeland and slaughtering their poeple. After they pushed the Centaur out of their homeland, Cairne helped Thrall journey to the Oracle in Stonetalon Peak and helped defend Azeroth from the Burning Legion’s invasion. Following those events, Cairne helped Thrall establish his clan in Durotar with the kindness of his heart and honor, and together they formed the first development of the Horde that we know today.
During this time Cairne was an old bull yet he still was a badass on the battlefield and an absolute force to be reckoned with.
Tauren I believe are the biggest bro’s in WoW, and it should be a Tauren - not Baine… That should lead the horde. They are incredible fighters with bold tenacity, but also have a huge respect for nature, they understand how to maintain balance and do what’s right for the greater good of all things.
Pandaren, Easily one of the most chill races in the game. They value honor, only fighting to protect their friends, family and home, and make some damn good food and booze.
It was my first character, and it was the entire reason I got into WoW. I wanted to play a minotaur. Tauren were the closest thing that existed at the time.
Female Blood Elves.
Plate just looks really good on them. And I always loved the Blood Knight Lore. Core memory is getting that Tabard and OG set. The new one is pretty nice too.
The rest are alright. But those are my favorite two.
They’re not the popular pick and that’s a draw for me. I love that they’re out of control and crazy. Their quests are often silly and filled with puns. Their personalities are the strongest in the game and you either love it or hate them for it.
They’re intelligent, scrappy and they are extremely capable in their own right. Problem? Send in a team of Goblins.
Worgen. Werewolves are cool and that like the worgen story for like the first five levels before (up until you meet the druids) is amazing (I still like worgen after that, but it’s actually a pretty great werewolf story)
She’s a Holy Priest and her name is Delight, which I thought was both hilarious and cute.
It’s been fun so far, I love it actually, it’s quite different from playing the straight laced pretty race for sure, so it feels very new and that’s been quite refreshing!
dracthyr. I think they are cute and cuddly looking. lizards and snakes are cute. also like the glide and flying racial. my dracthyr hunter can fly with his druid husband w/o a mount, he likes that.
blood elf honorable mention bc my main was a belf until I race changed him to dracthyr. the og model had a shade of red hair that was EXACTLY like mine when I get a lot of sun. after the model got updated it was just a bit too brown and it frustrated me no end. still love belves. fortunately, humanoid shaped dracthyr dudes are just reskinned belves with more obnoxious color options (love that for them, very sexy).
Most races doesn’t look good in armor sets. The ears/eyebrows/snouts clip through armor sets. This is a big pet peeve that I wish they would change. That’s why I like making Humans.
But as for absolute favorite? Lately it’s been the shorter races. Gnome, Gobby’s, and even to a smaller extent, Vulpera.
Trolls are my favorite race in the game. I really liked their casting animations before seemingly everything was homogenized. I don’t remember if they changed it, but I remember my female troll rogue having a twisting attack for her Eviscerate animation.
I’m playing Pandaren these days because my friend jokingly challenged me to level every class available to them at the beginning of Dragonflight because I wasn’t sure what class I wanted to main - I was tired of playing Shaman at the time. I’ve since settled on playing Monk and Warrior the most. Monk because the animations feel the most natural on Pandaren, and the Warrior is another case of not seeing them very often.
I liked that they’re not just another light worshiping kingdom like Stormwind or Lordaeron. The drush, tide mother, and size difference make them awesome.
Horde side: Trolls
Loved them in WC 3, loved the witch doctor and shadow hunter, their lore with the Loa. Shame blizzard seems to hate them and tied their Loa to night elfs- I mean the emerald dream- I mean ardenweald.
