What's Your Favorite Race/Class Combo for Healing and Why?

Looking to add a healer to my list of BFA mains so I can round out all four dungeon/raid roles. I’ve already got yours truly for melee dps, a nelf boomie for ranged dps, and a nelf vengeance dh for tanking. I’m kinda stumped on what I should roll for a healer so I’d figure I’d poll good old GD before I started investing time in a toon I might inevitably hate halfway through (happens more often than you can believe). Obviously I’d like to stay on the Alliance but… I suppose I’d hear some suggestions for Horde if the rationale is damn good.

So, any suggestions, my keyboard-warrior friends?

I play all healers. The only one I dont have at max level right now is my druid. It really depends on what kind of content you want to do. I personally like my monk and priest because they usually good at any content and they do really good on meters (not that that necessarily matters for healers, but I like it anyway). I mostly PvE but occasionally pvp. Ive been maining my priest this expansion, but im currently playing my monk a lot more because theyre really fun to play and have a bunch of smart heals.

Resto Shamans are great for raid healing but have a reputation for lacking a bit in mythic+. Holy Pallys are usually great for tank healing in raids and are also a good choice for mythic+ but I personally find them very unfun to play. I cant really say a bunch for Resto Druid this expansion but I hear they are really good for mythic+ right now and are generally great raid healers.

As for races, I prefer humans for their stun escape and void elf for their resistance to cast delays while being damaged. And they are the best for mog in my opinion.

Holy Paladin and Holy Priest are my current favorites.

If they would just make a Holy DPS spec I’d want for nothing else.

To be honest, I’d be happy if they just remade Disc into a proper Holy DPS spec. It’s not right for Priests to be pigeonholed into only Shadow if they want to DPS. The fact that a lot of us older players still do not like Voidform, is another reason. It felt like Blizzard straight up deleted the spec many of us played for 10+ years and then gave us a brand new spec we didn’t ask for.

Resto Druid is by far the strongest and most represented healer in Mythic+ content. They’re also very strong and insanely fun to play in pvp… there are so many get out of jail free cards like dash, shifting out of cc, frenzied regeneration, roots, etc. etc. Most of your heals are castable on the run.

i’d like it if disc was a dps spec. it could use mostly the same spells it has right now. lol. i like new shadow but i understand that a lot of people don’t. i’m so burnt out on leveling right now but my goal is to finish leveling my maghar priest and make him my main. one of the few classes where all 3 are fun and have their own use, imo.

Can’t verify either are viable for end game or anything but I’ve always loved disc priests & resto shamans. Seems like it wasn’t too long ago my r-shaman was pretty unkillable in PVP, most likely end of Legion.

My gnome monk and hightmountain monk would like to have a word with you.

I mean. You are still right though. I picked those two races purely because of how comedic they look as monks.

Draenei Anything. They get an additional racial heal.

Good point! I was strongly considering a Draenei shaman but I’m having a hard time making one look god in a mog. Plus mail sets are unfortunately getting the short end of the stick these days imo. Damn shame, because I both love Draenei lore and the resto shaman play style.

I never use mine. Mostly because I forget to, but also because the amount of healing it does makes it really not even worth the GCD.

NE Resto Druid is really good in M+. I can use my Shadowmeld to duck out of combat and drink when the tank is pulling non-stop. (Not complaing - that’s what tanks should do in M+).

My healer is a Void Elf Discipline Priest. No spell push back and bubbles for everyone.

Totally disagree, Priest is literally the only class in the game that gives Healer mains the option to not be pigeonholed into one spec, how is it “not right” to have people who want to DPS as priest to only have one spec but totally ok for everyone who want to heal on ANY class to only have one spec.

And turning Disc into a DPS spec would do the exact same thing for Disc players wouldn’t it?.

Don’t get me wrong a ranged Holy-based DPS spec could be interesting, but leave Disc alone.
