For me, my favorite family is probably Stone Hounds and my least favorite is kind of a several way tie:
I dislike Mechanicals because they’re a separate family, instead of just being integrated like Undead pets. I dislike Clefthooves because they have such great passives, but so limited aesthetic choices. I dislike crocolisks because they’re also so limited in options (and really, them and basilisks should be consolidated). And I dislike Birds of Prey for being separate from Carrion Birds (which are birds of prey), having a much more robust selection of pets in it and for having birds that aren’t raptorial.

My least favorite are tyrannsaurs (and any other pet that makes that annoying stomping noise).

Honestly my hunter was made during Cata just to tame the rare pets. I spent HOURS camping those things. My favorite is and always will be Deth’tilac. I was the first on my server to tame it at the time and was very proud of it. Also Terrorpene was very hard-won and beloved. The families/abilities didn’t matter to me.

My least favorite is any of the bugs, I hate bugs.
My favorite depends on the character/theme I’m going for, but I do wish there were more spirit beasts and unicorns.

I got a Feathermane ( Slyvern) pet as my favorite at the moment because I only just discovered the tome.

worse and the massive ones that dont shut up, be it there attacks or just the sounds they make. there annoying for the hunter and everyone else around them caz the cant see the mob(s) you need to attack and any aoes on the floor around them/ the mob doing there cast. i have been screwed by other peoples pets caz of those reasons
my fav is the bumblebee.
lust pet - check
small, so dosnt get in the way - check
dosnt make any out sounds - check
also as a horde player i cant get the bee mount so i got the 2nd best thing, being a bee pet.
i say all this yet my 2nd pet is a otter that dosnt shut the f up. i may end up changing it… or just forget to/suck it up and keep it, lol

You actually swayed me to switch to a bumble bee and make a transmog set to go with it.
Like would be Core Hounds.
Dislike would be Clefthooves, with one exception, they’re just so boring to look at as pets.
I am a sucker for spirit beasts, ever since they added Loque’nahak, I still use that pet to this day.
Cannot say I have a least favorite out of all the families. I have 10 hunters of various levels, so I tend to use most families.

Least favorite are the super large pets like clefthooves or the ones always in fly mode like chimeras. I find them annoying.
Pets I always go back to are Fleetfoot for speed boost and it’s death animation is fun. My main pet that I pretty much always use for dps is the corehound which is a big boy too but I use the glyph to make my main pet smaller. I like the corehound’s main ability and it’s survivability is great imo. I don’t do super hard content so it works out great.
But do you have a least favorite, Nui?
My reply to the thread got nuked during the DDOS for some reason, so, here’s a repeat:
Favorites would be any of the reptilian families - lizards, devilsaurs, scalehides, etc.
I like mechanicals, but only when playing a Goblin, Gnome, or Mechagnome because they thematically fit.
Most disliked would be any of the insect or insect-adjacent.
That’s weird, because I remember reading yours.

I like spirit beasts, wished there were more though.
My least favorite are Clefthooves (despite them being real good in terms of survival), too big and they hardly shrink with the glyph.
I miss being able to spec my pets along with their special buffs that were fun
Least favorite would have to be Core Hounds, because we had to use them for the longest time for Bloodlust. Clefthooves a close second, just because they get in the way all the time, Devilsaurs 3rd even though I like how they look, still too big.
My favorite is actually Spirit Beasts, everyone loves how they look even if they aren’t the best pets for content.
The memories of hunting those back in Wrath, chef’s kiss.
While I have many trophy pets from rare captures in my stable, I’m about 100% cats. I play MM and prefer my target going down as fast as possible rather than wither down with pet AI and pot shots from my weapon. I chose cats back when we had to feed our pets - they ate almost anything. No need tow worry about particular types of drops or vendor (cheese), just shoot an animal or catch a fish and you were usually good to go.
