I think its around hc?
I believe LFR should be the official lore difficulty imo, Nzoth being way harder than mythic in there feels accurate with the lore.
Mythic, I think. Only because the bosses have more unique abilities and extra phases in this difficulty, some of which basically prelude the cutscenes. Like the final phase of the Gul’dan fight where you fight Illidan, and also the phase in Argus where Sargeras posseses his body. I haven’t raided at all this expansion, so idk about BfA.
Mythic / old heroic is the lore difficulty for a few reasons.
- The bosses are at their strongest
- Certain bosses (like Ragnaros in firelands, mar’gok in Highmaul) have extra phases that continue their story that are not present on other difficulties.
On normal, Ragnaros flees, however on heroic he is stopped by Cenarius, Malfurion and Hamuul Runetotem. So he grows legs and then dies (for good). For Mar’gok, he is killed by AU Cho’gall and we fight AU Cho’gall.
The second point was problematic for Archimonde in HFC as he dies on Draenor per the cinematic. However as established by the two previous boss, he dies in the twisting nether on mythic (thereby meaning he dies for good). Blizzard has stated that the mythic ending > cinematic ending for Archimonde though… for now.
I think it’s around 10 stacks
Sargeras doesn’t possess Argus. He gives him a massive power boost, enabling him to dodge Aman’thuls time erasing attack. This is shown visually since there is no “phase 3” where you fight several constellars while Argus recovers and he turns red.
Also because Sargeras was trying to corrupt baby Azeroth into a dark titan asap. The Argus fight served two purposes for Sargeras
- To give him time to corrupt Azeroth and add her to his “dark pantheon”.
- If Argus succeeded in killing us (the other titans were too weak to stop Argus), then he can command Argus to begin wiping out all life in existence. Which is why Argus does an ability called “End of all thing” at the start of phase 4 (phase 3 on mythic).
I’m in agreement that it is Mythic and Heroic for the older raids without Mythic.
I was honestly surprised by all I had missed, story-wise, when I first solo’d some of the old raids. I’m not a big raider so I usually only see Normal, if that.
