It just me or are the Zaralek Cavern rares broken?

How do you mean?
The regions of Zaralek are on a rotation, and rares only spawn in the active regions each day. To my knowledge Blizzard does not make this apparent anywhere in game, you have to read third party websites.
Not sure if that’s what you’re talking about.
What, the fact that they despawn on their own after a certain period of time if they’re not engaged in combat or the fact that you’ll often get moved to different shards while trying to camp them and never actually end up seeing them?

One was limping and another had crutches.

Technically intentional, so not a bug, but you’re correct in assuming it’s stupid.
The ZC rares aren’t particularly captivating and I don’t even know what’s farmable about them except the claw.
So the map will be plastered with rares, who cares?
Rares also don’t spawn for the first 45-50 minutes of a ZC shard, unlike most zones.
Since you can be moved to a new shard multiple times an hour, you may never see them.
You can use the NPC Time addon and check questgivers to see how old a shard is.
