On the starting isle where there are the elemental wolves i was set on by a pack of bees level 80 as a 70 char. Then in some locations its just randomly level 80 and 80 elites in the middle of 70’s What’s up with this choice?

I mean, 20 years… about 18 since Fel Reaver. Hasn’t really been an equivalent since. Not so much of a stretch that one would forget.

To directly answer the question, high level mobs have been terrorizing low level zones from the beginning. And while being an amazingly large PITA at the moment, most fade into fond memories, some even into legend.

Welcome to Un’goro, the devilsaur will take good care of you. I personally loved finding the level 80s and getting rolled, i can not stand the “everything scales with you tehe!” BS blizzard has done. Really hard to feel like i am getting stronger when the mobs ding when i ding.

Those bees were a menace, because there are quests you are supposed to do in that area.
I remember going through the Isles for the 1st time, seeing a rare, excited to get it done, landed and got immediately one shot! 
Wake up call right there.

I didnt see them on my main, i didnt do side quests, when i leveled my druid (mining/herb) i was flying over to the brewery seen a lot of herbs and went “score!”… i can still hear them, mocking me, taunting me with the charged herb they are protecting, tempting me… it did feel great hitting max getting a bit of gear and throwing hands with the things that posed a threat. I really hope blizzard does not removing them, it was a great little sprinkle of nostalgia getting killed, doing a training montage, and going back for sweet sweet revenge.

I have and that was a named mob and all. What i encounter is just common named mobs in the middle of common name mobs that for some reason is just 80.
There’s an entire area of elites over by the Meadery, iirc. Bees and wolves. But they’re contained to their own area and quests shouldn’t be taking you there.
I died to them because I needed that herb! 
Also that’s the Fel Reaver. If you missed all the sounds and rumbling of the screen and this towering menace just walking around then there is no complaining. The problem i have is common looking critters that are level 80 mixed into the mobs that are level scaled with you.

Sometimes it seems to be a QA issue. I can think of several times over the years since Legion ended when high level unscaled mobs turned up in Legion content. For instance, there’s an invasion quest in Highmountain that has unscaled level 45 felbat screechers flying around and one shotting the level 10’s that are supposed to be doing that content. Somebody copied the felbat screechers from the Broken Shore instead of the ones in Azsuna. Voila, content cannot be run by its target audience.

Wherever there are dailies, there are always areas with max level mobs and elites mixed in with areas that have leveling mobs.
It kind of has that old WoW feel to it but with the caveat of them still using the stupid layers of scaling everywhere else.
Part of Fel Reaver’s whole schtick is their ability to drop in on you unannounced. It was part of their charm.
If you never had Fel Reaver mosey on into your AoE, did you actually ever play Burning Crusade?
