Obviously, we have our unintelligent members as does any race.
But we’re not all unintelligent. Even thrall is right there and I think he’s probbaly of average orc intellect.
Orcs can be mages, orcs can build and use complicated machinary, we can be warlocks, hunters, monks, priests. All of these require a degree of intelligence. Well hunter is more intuition but still lots of skills involved in hunters!
Orcs aren’t unintelligent and we don’t eat rocks! We eat tau- wild boar!
We orcs can be wise, and clever. Don’t underestimate us. It may be your undoing wicked smile

They’re probably the dumbest playable race. You can’t really get dumber than Orcs until you start looking at things like Ogres, Hozen and Gilgoblins.

In-universe it seems to be a piece of widespread bigotry out-of-universe it’s just cause orcs are usually depicted as dumb.
They aren’t really dumb, the Iron Horde on Draenor was basically the only large fully industrialised nation we’ve seen. Both gnome factions are centred entirely on one city each and goblins haven’t quite gotten around to fully industrialising the Kalimdor Horde.
Actually from what I’ve seen the orcs tend to take advantage of it when the Alliance treats them like they’re dumb. Such as when Saurfang absolutely finessed the night elves.

The warcraft games made it pretty clear that Orcs aren’t the sharpest tools in the drawer. Everytime you clicked on one of your orc peons they’d say something like: “Work work…” “What you want?” “Something need doing?” “Me busy, leave me alone” “Me not that kind of orc”.
And so on. They intentionally were voiced to sound simple-minded with voice lines that often didn’t use the correct pronouns or verbage. Thrall was a pretty big exception.

Its because you cant be strong enough to pick up a horse and bash humans over the head with it and be Jaina level intelligent - its too Mary Sue.
Its also because the only race less intelligent than Orcs are Trolls

Orcs probably have the most broad range of intellect of the playable species. Some are depicted as barely able to form spoken words, while others orchestrated schemes of political intrigue so intricate that they would make Machiavelli blush.

Sad commentary since he’s typically seen as one of the more intelligent/wise Orcs out there, and was raised and educated by humans.
I’d argue that Orcs aren’t unintelligent. The issue is their culture and society is one where critical thinking isn’t a virtue. Don’t question the Warchief as they tell you to commit genocide, just obey.
The race most depicted as unintelligent is the bulk of Ogres. Compared to them, Orcs are geniuses.

those were peons, by definition not intelligent. Peon isn’t represenative of your average orc any more than the similiarly simple minded human peasant (counterpart) is representative of human intelligence.
I would argue that this is a more recent development, ironically orchestrated by an exceptionally intelligent Orc: Gul’dan. We don’t get much Orc history prior to his machinations, but at the very least, we do get to see that Ner’zhul was intelligent enough to see through the lies of Kil’jaeden.
It’s tempting to equate a relatively primitive culture with a relatively stupid people. But it is a mistake to do so.
