stopped playing in january. came back to play hardcore. Everyone time I click load it takes a minute or more to load the game. I have read others with this issue, and the “fix” was update your graphics drivers.

Are you loading the game from and SSD? If you’re still using a spinning disk, I would get that swapped out ASAP. This is the main culprit of extended load times for many people. HDD’s are not up to the task for anything other than backups these days. I would not load games or put an OS on one ever in 2023+.
How many addons are you loading and are the ones you do have up to date? Addons can cause extensive delay to the game load (and /reload) time if they’re not working properly.

I dont like many add ons. Im loading maybe 5 to 6
So still no idea why this game takes forever to load. agian though. It wasn’t doing it in january. it started after I came back to the game now

Load time is directly tied to drive performance. If the game is installed on an SSD then we recommend trying disabling background programs following the steps Here.

I have 6 things in my startup. I dont have steam loading up, etc etc etc. I have basic stuff, like my cannon printer, windows system notification
I do not believe that’s what is clogging up my memory to make this game take long to load up
I posted in another thread - but as far as I can tell it seems to be linked to the Secrets of Azeroth items - maybe the thinking cap.
I haven’t touched retail for years, since classic. only been playing classic.
again, instead of blizzard saying… Yeah guyz, we F’d up somehow. on 15% of systems boot time is terrbile. We are working on a fix and trying to figure it out…
I’d be completely okay with that. but we are left here, on this forum, trying to ask for help … hoping there is a solution… which there is not.

Heck I had a phone game (that I play all the time since jan 2022.) where somehow in one of their updates they screwed up cell play and I had to always log into wifi to play the game. Where I live, that is not always an option. I asked support, they got back to me and mentioned that some others were having a similar issue and they are looking into it. Then they said they semi know what’s going on and will be working on it in future updates. Sure, it took that small company a few months and a few updates to finally fix it…BUT!!! I knew at that point I couldn’t do anything on my end to fix it.
I didn’t have to format my drive, reinstall the game, delete the cache, put the game from a HD to a SSD, pray to the gods, give my left kidney.
I knew I just had to play the game within those means and accept it and just wait until a fix.
Without acknowledging that it is on their end, the player base that is having these issues, continues to look for ideas, tries to implement said plans, and waste countless hours when they really shouldn’t be trying… as they cannot fix the issue…
